Originally announced in January 2021,Resident Evil Re:Verseis a live-service game envisioned as a multiplayer shooter for between two and six people. It was released for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC in late October 2022. While it debuted with a $29.99 price tag,anyone who purchasedResident Evil Villagereceived a complimentary copy ofRe:Verse.

On February 5, just three and a half months following the game’s second anniversary, Capcom announced thatResident Evil Re:Versewill be shutting down. Its servers are scheduled to go offline on June 29, at 11:59pm PDT. AllResident Evil Re:Versepost-launch DLCand the game itself will be delisted beforehand, with Capcom planning to pull them from digital storefronts on March 3, at 9pm PDT.
Resident Evil Re:Verse Has Run Its Course, Capcom Says
In a prepared statement, the publisher highlighted thatRe:Versewas developed as part of itscelebrations of the 25th anniversary of theResident Evilfranchise, suggesting that the live-service title was never planned to run indefinitely. “Now that we’ve reached a new turning point for the series, we feel thatResident Evil Re:Versehas served its original, celebratory purpose admirably,” Capcom said. As part of the same move, the publisher thanked its fans for their ongoing support, while apologizing for any inconvenience stemming from the upcoming shutdown.
Resident Evil Re:Verse Shutdown Schedule
Capcom is still giving away complimentary copies ofRe:Verseto anyone who buysany edition ofResident Evil Village. This practice will continue until the game is pulled from Steam and the PlayStation and Xbox Stores in early March 2025. March 3 is also the final deadline forResident Evil Villageowners to redeem their freeRe:Versecodes—for obvious reasons. And while the live-service title will remain playable for almost four more months afterward, it will no longer offer any in-game purchases, including its variety of cosmetics and RP Booster packs, as well as its $9.99 Premium Pass.
