TheStar Warsseries is a cross-promotional dream for many video game franchises. Given the IP’s seemingly unstoppable, evergreen popularity, addingStar Warscontent to a video game feels like a perfect way to create hype around it. This was seen recently inDestiny 2, which is set to add some new armor and cosmetics based on the iconic franchise.
Without question,Star Warscontent in gaming is always in demand, whether it bethrough uniqueStar Warsgamesor collaborative content in outside games. As a result, gamers should see plenty of characters, costumes, and gear showing up in video games in the future. One game has an easy opportunity to add someStar Warscontent to the mix, and it should be a top priority for its developer.

Destiny 2 Shouldn’t Be The Only Franchise With Star Wars Content
Kingdom Hearts Has Been Waiting For Star Wars To Appear
Star Warscontent should come toKingdom Hearts 4when the game is ready to go. Such a collaboration feels like a natural fit, asKingdom Heartshas always mixed theFinal Fantasyuniverse with Disney properties, and Disney has ownedStar Warssince 2012. It feels like Square Enix’s franchise has been waiting for aStar Warsappearance for years, andKingdom Hearts 4could finally fit one in.
WhileKingdom Hearts 3was released in the time since Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm - and by proxy theStar Warsproperty - in 2012, no content from the franchise appeared inKH3. Series director Tetsuya Nomura noted thatcontract issues preventedStar Warsfrom making itinto the previous game. This was also why the game did not include any content from Marvel Entertainment (unless one counts Disney’sBig Hero 6, itself a loose adaptation of a Marvel comic), which Disney acquired in 2009.
Star Wars Is More Than Expansive Enough For Kingdom Hearts
So long as Square Enix doesn’t have to deal with the same contract issues inKingdom Hearts 4,Star Warscontent feels like a no-brainer. TheStar Warsuniverse is so vast and expansive that Square Enix would have a lot of room to play around with different aspects of the films. Given that Sora already battles with a sword-like weapon in the form of the Keyblade, it doesn’t seem out of the question for him towield a lightsaber in the nextKingdom Heartstitle.
It also doesn’t hurt that, asStar Warsis a space-based series,Kingdom Heartsalso has several moments that take place in space. Specifically, Sora flies around in his Gummi Ship and travels across space to get to numerous locations. These sections already play out very similarly to space battles inStar Wars, and a new game could re-outfit these sections on a scale akin to the epic battles in Lucasfilm’s franchise.

Kingdom Hearts 4 May Already Be Hinting At Star Wars
Kingdom Heartsfans may already be expectingStar Warscontent in the next game, as theKingdom Hearts 4reveal trailer seemed to offer hints at a crossover. One portion of the trailer showeda location that resembled the forest moon of Endor, and a small object that appeared in a single frame of the trailer seemed to be part of an AT-ST Walker. While it’s not entirely clear if the locale was Endor - or if the small object was actually an AT-ST - these moments in the trailer do offer some hope forKingdom Heartsfans who have been hoping for someStar Warscontent.
Naturally,Kingdom Hearts 4is still a way out, so it could be a long time until gamers actually know if these teases are in any way indicative of theStar Warsuniverse appearing in the new game. Even so, the expansiveness of theStar Warsuniverse makes it feel like a natural fit for the next entry in Square Enix’s crossover franchise. Let’s hope Lucasfilm’s iconic series is next in line to be introduced toKingdom Hearts.
