The Alien: Earth Trailer Has Landed
Alien: Earthis approaching its summer release date and marketing for the series is ramping up. A newteaser trailerfor the series was released by FX and Hulu, and it teases how the Xenomorphs arrive on Earth. Taken from the moving POV of a facehugger, theAlien: Earthtrailer follows the creature through the various chambers of a spacecraft as an alarm sounds warning of a containment breach. The teaser ends as the facehugger reaches the window looking out at Earth, where its ship is currently bound for a crash landing.
In addition to the teaser, a new poster forAlien: Earthwas released reaffirming the series’ Summer release window. The poster adds to the series’ eerie aesthetic by blending the Xenomorph with imagery of Earth. The tagline for the series reads,“We were safer in space.”These teases do little to give away the plot or direction ofAlien: Earth, but the footage does reveal that the damaged ship will be the catalyst for the alien species’ invasion of Earth. The originalAlienproved just how much damage one facehugger could do to a crew of seven people, so it isn’t hard to imagine what havoc one can wreak on a society of unsuspecting people.
How Alien: Earth Will Be Different to Other Projects In the Franchise
Previous teases forAlien: Earthhas confirmed the series’ placeon the timeline. One teaser trailer provided the ominous warning that “in 2120, Mother Earth is expecting,” which placesAlien: Earthtwo years before Alien and after the events ofPrometheusandAlien: Covenant. The officialsynopsis for the seriesreveals that Chandler’s character and a “ragtag group of tactical soldiers” uncover the crashed vessel, which leads them to discover the planet’s “greatest threat,” which is no doubt the Xenomorph.
Where priorAlienfilms have relied on introducing different species and evolutions of the Xenomorph, it appearsAlien: Earth’sbiggest point of differencewill be its setting. The series will be the firstAlienstory to set its narrative on Earth, rather than on a spaceship or extraterrestrial planet. The fusion of these two ideas will no doubt be a breeding ground for new horrors about the Xenomorph, which audiences will find out about in Summer.
