Professions are mainly skillsets that you train your character in Fen Research’sBrighter Shores. They are the primary way tolevel up in all four early access episodesof the game, including Hopeport, Hopeforest, Mine of Mantuban, and Crenopolis.
The interesting thing is the game offers different professions for each new area (episode), some of which are free while others are paid. With their help, you’re able to obtain resources, defeat hostile creatures, and complete the game’s main quest storyline. This guide will walk you through how to unlock every profession inBrighter Shores.

How To Unlock All Professions In Brighter Shores
Professions aren’t unlocked at the start of the game. Like theinvite friends feature, they become available after finishing the following introductory quests in Hopeport:
When you speak with Corporal Binns, he’ll introduce you to the game’s initial professions and task you with wrapping up your training in Hopeport by reaching a total rank of 60. As mentioned above, leveling up your skills becomes important by the end of all four episodes. Below is a breakdown of each episode and the professions they offer.
All Professions In Hopeport
As a new recruit inBrighter Shores, your journey kicks off in Hopeport, the game’s first episode. To protect the town from Goblins, recover from enemy attacks, and survive the first part, you’ll need to upscale your various skills. Hopeport offers five professions—this is how to unlock each of them:
Forager
Collect natural resources to make preparations for various potions.
Collect Kelp (Level Zero)on East Beach during the quest: Heal Captain Degreene.
Alchemist
Craft potions like Healing, Strength, Fear, and more to power up your character.
Make a 10% Healing Potion for Captain Degreene during the main quest: Heal Captain Degreene.
Chef
Cook meals and sell them for money.
Buy ingredients from Kevin’s Ingredients on Stone Street and make a Basic Bacon Sandwich at The Delectable Dab Kitchen.
Fisherwoman / Fisherman
Cook seafood dishes like Grilled Bass or Garlic Herring.
Get a Fishing Spear from Melv’s Fishing Supplies in Town Square and catch any fish—start with Mottled Flounder (Level Zero) on East Beach.
Just so you know, The Delectable Dab Kitchen is inside the restaurant of the same name on Stone Street. Also,a Fishing Spearcosts 12 Silver Coins, so save up before you head to the shop.
All Professions in Hopeforest
Hopeforest is the second episode ofBrighter Shores. In this part, you’llcleanse a giant crystaland save the forest and its creatures from the dark magic that threatens to corrupt them. Hopeforest introduces four new professions:
Scout
Combat higher-level monsters in Hopeforest.
Kill any Hopeforest exclusive foes (Level Zero), including Ragged Outlaws, Vagabond Goblins, and Grizzly Bears.
Woodcutter
Gather wood to make lumber, poles, and planks with the Carpenter profession and use them to craft Guardian faction weapons in later episodes.
Purchase a Hand Saw from Morauce the Hatchet Man at Timberwell Green and use it to cut the Coarse Ash Log (Level Zero) right there.
Gatherer
Make special potions at Apothecary’s Potion Reagents orsell herbs and fruits at Timberwell Suppliesin Hopeforest.
Pick Veined Globeplants (Level Zero) on the Road to Hopeport to unlock the Gatherer Profession.
Carpenter
Create wooden items for quests and other professions.
Head to the Carpenter’s Workshop at Timberwell Green and use Coarse Ash Logs in the Circular Saw to make planks.
A Hand Saw costs 36 Silver Coins. Additionally, players will need to rank up professions to snag better items and progress to other parts of the game.
All Professions In Mine Of Mantuban
Mine of Mantuban is the third episode ofBrighter Shores, where players try to defusecorruption from another giant crystalhidden deep within. It introduces five new professions. Here’s the list of them:
Bonewright
Create weapons and shields for the Guardian class.
Travel back to Hopeforest to collect Goat Horns (Crooked) from the Bear Clearing and Two Headed Bear Clearing. Youcan also buy some from Jangle’s Bone Shopat Bridge Cavern in Episode Three. Then, head to the Bone Vats in the Mine of Mantuban and use the B.R.E.W.S Machine to turn the Goat Horn into Brewed Bones, unlocking the Bonewright profession. Fans can also craft the Truncheon (Basic Level) weapon using these Brewed Bones to level up Bonewright to level one quickly.
Miner
Mining minerals to help make weapons and gear for other classes.
Grab the free Pickaxe from the rock at the Abandoned Mining Cavern and mine Coarse Flint (Level Zero).
Blacksmith
Build weapons and shields for the Cryoknight class.
Mine some Iron Ore from the Bridge Cavern, go to the Goblin Workshop, and put it into the Goblin Smelter to create Iron Ingots to kick off this skill.
Stonemason
Make weapons and shields for the Hammermage class.
To unlock the Stonemason profession, collect Flint and catch some Gas Leeches at the Leech Pools. Fill the leeches with gas from the Gas Vents at the Gassy Grotto. Then, go to the Sculpting Room and use the T.E.A. Machine to turn the Flint into Coarse Flint (Etched).
The Bone Vats is located southwest of the Mine Entrance. Players who have activated theMine Southwest Portalcan easily access both the Sculpting Room and the Goblin Workshop.
All Professions In Crenopolis
Crenopolis is the fourth and final episode available to players during the game’s early access. Similar to the Mine of Mantuban, the professions in this episode are special tothose with a premium pass. Here’s a look at the Crenopolis professions and how to practice them:
Watchwoman / Watchperson
End powerful foes in Crenopolis city.
Take out any zero-level monsters, including Whitepaw Tiger, Flea Ridden, and Warty.
Detective
Catch city thieves, complete crime den raids, and investigations.
Deliver Captain Jal Degreene’s letter to Captain Waltain, buy handcuffs from the Desk Sergeant, and apprehend thieves at Waterfront in Crenopolis.
Leatherworker
Craft leather from animal hides.
Purchase Basic White Cow Hide from the Hide Stall at Waterfront and make White Cow Leather at the Tannery.
Merchant
Fulfill bounties and become a member of the Merchant’s Guild.
Visit the Guild Bounty Board at Merchant’s Guild and complete bounties.
