Aloft: How to Get Charcoal
Burned Tree Stumps & Extinguished Fire Pits
There are two objects that yield charcoal when destroyed:burned tree stumpsandextinguished fire pits. These objects can be found on many of the islands that players will encounter while exploring, including the starting island, and they are dismantled with the Axe and Pickaxe.
Players who are looking for Charcoal are thus advised to spend some time visiting islands and looking for burned tree stumps and extinguished fire pits upon them. The images that are above showcase exactly what those objects look like, and they should make it easy for fans ofgames with flyingto identify them in the environment.

Charcoal Respawns
To note, it seems that burned tree stumps and extinguished fire pitsdo not respawnover time. This means that there is alimited supply of Charcoalavailable. This is not a significant issue, though, as fans ofsandbox gamescan always extract Charcoal from anew world.
Indeed, a character retains its resources when switching between worlds. As such, indie survival gamefans who have run out of burned tree stumps and extinguished fire pits in their primary worlds can simply create a new world, visit it with their main character, and harvest more Charcoal there. Players can then return to their primary worlds, and they will find that the character has kept the Charcoal that they collected in the new world.

Chests & Sketchbooks
It is also worth mentioning that players may occasionally find Charcoal in chests that are scattered across the game’s many islands, and they should make sure to loot those containers when the opportunity to do so arises. Furthermore, any additional Sketchbooks that a player obtains during their adventures can be dismantled into their components, one of which is Charcoal. While these alternative sources may not be enough to fulfill a player’s needs for Charcoal, they can be helpful when attempting to establish a stockpile of thisresource inAloft.
