Next week, instead of a new episode of the anime, Japanese TV will air another episode ofTakao Ameku’s Day Off, featuring Ayane Sakura, the voice actress who plays Ameku – it isnot the first time it happens, and these specials are not streaming officially in the US. Meanwhile,Episode 7 will debut on February 19.

Ameku MD Mixes Anime, Dr. House and Crime Series
The anime is based on the same name novel written byMikito Chinenand illustrated byNoizi Ito(Shakugan no Shanacharacter designer ), which unfortunately hasn’t been licensed in the US yet, as neither are the manga based on the series.
The story is set in a general hospital and follows Yu Takanashi, an assistant of Dr. Ameku Takao at the Department of Investigative Pathology – this department is basically assigned to cases that no other department is currently able to handle. While Ameku is brilliant when it comes to diagnosis, she has a distinctive, and rather hard to deal with, personality.
As the department mostly deals with cases hard to diagnose, it is not uncommon for Ameku’s patients to be victims of crimes – especially heinous crimes in which the perpetrators tried to tamper with the evidence and circumstances. However, in some episodes, she deals with ordinary patients.
Anyway, this is an anime thatApothecary Diariesfans would likely enjoy, as well asmedical dramaand crime show fans.
