Summary
The closer it gets toScream 7officially going into production, the more cast members are getting added. And interestingly enough, the latest addition toScream 7should raise some serious eyebrows while raising questions about just how this actor’s character could be included in the newest movie in the long-running series.
Scream 7won’t have Melissa Barreraon the cast, but it’s clear that there are going to be plenty of people who make a return to the series as a kind of homecoming. Chief among those returns is Sidney Prescott. There are also going to be some new additions to the series including Sidney’s husband. However, there’s already been a surprise for Scream fans in that regard because her husband isn’t Patrick Dempsey, who played a police detective in an earlier installment. There have also been some been some surprises in the return of some of the more iconic villains in the series. That includes the latest casting announcement.

Original Ghostface Is Back For Scream 7
Deadlinereports that Matthew Lillard has joinedScream 7. And the publication says that Lillard willreprise the role of Stu Macher. That of course is quite the twist considering that it’s long been thought that Macher was killed off in the very first installment of Scream. He and Billy Loomis were the original Ghostfaces, adding the interesting twist in the first movie that allowed them both to look like they were innocent while the killer was racking up body counts.
The addition of Lillard and his killer character is a bit of fanservice as themost devotedScreamfanshave long claimed there was a chance that he lived through all the abuse he took at the end of the original movie since no one ever actually declared him dead on camera. Certainly, if he did live through it, he took the kind of damage that would have made it hard to survive, but some believe he could have been in a coma or convalescence home all these years.

The return of Stu Macher’s announcement came one day after another old villain was confirmed to be returning forScream 7. Earlier in the week, Scott Foley was added to the cast and it was stated that he’llonce again play Roman Bridger. That’s a pretty big twist as Bridger was killed off at the end ofScream 3after he was exposed as that film’s Ghostface. Both villains appearing in Scream 7 has rightfully raised quite a few questions about how all of this is going to work.
One theory is that Bridger could return the same way that Bill Loomis did in Scream 5, as a hallucination of one of the characters. It’s possible that if Stu Macher hasn’t somehow survived and is finally well enough to interact with the other returnees in the series, he could also be a kind of “ghost presence.” With Sidney Prescott being back, its not out of the realm of possibility she could “see” these characters and even interact with them in her mind. Fans will find out exactly how all this works inScream 7when it hits theaters in February of 2026.
