Windows regularly receives updates, and 24H2 for Windows 11 introduced a number of new and improved functions, like Wi-Fi 7 support, improved energy saving modes, and AICopilot+ PC features. However, after the launch of this update, some gamers started experiencing issues preventing some games from starting or behaving correctly, including entries in theAssassin’s Creedfranchise. This new fix should amend the issue for two of Ubisoft’s games.

Ubisoft has revealed thatAssassin’s Creed OriginsandAssassin’s Creed Valhallahave both received title updates that should fix theproblemsAssassin’s Creedhad following Windows 11 update 24H2. Players should be able to receive the updates automatically through Steam, after which the games should boot up correctly. Users will need to ensure they have some storage space in advance, as the Windows 24H2-fixingAssassin’s Creed Originspatch will take up 230 MB of space andValhallawill take 500 MB.
Windows Update 24H2 Is Still Plaguing Some Ubisoft Games
It’s not entirely clear what in this particularWindows update caused some Ubisoft games to stop functioning properly. While gamers are grateful that these two titles have been restored, there have still been some complaints, as some remaining games haven’t been patched to fix the issues yet. This includesAssassin’s Creed Odyssey, which, like its counterparts, can either become unresponsive or fails to function at all. Previous hotfixes from Ubisoft have reportedly fixed the worst of the problems withStar Wars: OutlawsandAvatar: Frontiers of Pandora, but there may be some remaining performance issues to be ironed out.Assassin’s Creed Odysseyfans who have been waiting to update Windows may want to consider holding off for a while longer until a fix is released for that game.
While this problem is now being amended, it’s unfortunate that it transpired in the first place. Players began reporting issues with various games when the Windows 24H2 update preview launched five months prior, but it would seem the issue wasn’t fixed prior to the update officially being rolled out. The development is especially problematic, since Microsoft has been urgingWindows 10 users to upgrade to 11ASAP. Thankfully, most games don’t seem to have had any major issues develop following the update.
