During last month’s The Game Awards 2024 ceremony,Astro Botpicked up a plethora of accoladesand ended the night with a bang by taking home the coveted Game of the Year award. Many assumed this would be the pinnacle ofAstro Bot’s winning streak, but a recent discovery proves otherwise. Twitter user NextGenPlayer pointed out in a recent tweet thatAstro Bothas received 104 Game of the Year awards so far, granting it the status of most awarded platformer in history. Still, there’s no denyingAstro Bothas turned out immensely successful for both Team Asobi and Sony. On the commercial front,Astro Botsurpassed 1.5 million copies soldas of November 2024, which isn’t all that bad considering the game was created by less than 70 developers in a three-year timeframe and likely required a moderate budget. IfAstro Botwasn’t a major PlayStation franchise before, it almost certainly is now.
