Recent months have seen a ton of discussion surrounding Xbox’s first-party games that are rumored to be making the jump over to PlayStation 5 following Xbox’s apparent shift in strategy. A number of high profile Xbox games have already been confirmed to appear on PS5 in the coming months. Just recently, Xbox’s 2021 smash hit arcade racerForza Horizon 5, considered one of the Xbox Series X and S’s very best console exclusives this generation, has been locked in for a PS5 release this Spring. PlayStation gamers are still waiting for the promisedIndiana Jones and the Great Circleport, and Obsidian Entertainment’s sci-fi RPG sequelThe Outer Worlds 2confirmed a day one PS5 releaseback in December at The Game Awards. Furthermore,Starfieldis rumored to show at next week’s Sony State of Play with a PS5 port announcement.

All of this has caused a whirlwind of rumors and speculationsurrounding some of Xbox’s nearest and dearest franchises, likeHaloandGears of War,but also some of the platform holder’s new first-party IPs likeAvowed. At the moment,Avowedis only confirmed to be releasing on Xbox and PC, but a recentMinnMax Rapid-Fire interviewwith the game’s director, Carrie Patel, has made some waves. Early on in the interview, host Ben Hanson slyly hits Patel with a sudden suggestion thatAvowedis almost certainly destined to be brought to PS5 at some point in the future. Caught off-guard, Patel instinctively gives a small nod before seemingly catching herself and switching to a nonchalant shrug.
Avowed Game Director Inadvertently Sparks PS5 Port Rumors
Of course, Patel’s reaction to Hanson’s clever query doesn’t serve as an official confirmation thatAvowedwill end up on PlayStation, but seeing how many other big first-partyXbox games are set to land on PS5, it certainly wouldn’t be a surprise at this point. Between Obsidian’s two big upcoming RPGs,Avowedmakes the most sense as an Xbox console exclusive asThe Outer Worlds 2is a sequel to a multiplatform game. With that said, PS5 port rumors will likely continue swirling long afterAvowed’s release later this month.
In the meantime, gamers on Xbox, PC, and Game Pass can look forward to delving into Obsidian’s fantasy RPG adventure on February 18.Avowedis surely one of the most highly anticipated RPGs of 2025,next to games likeKingdom Come: Deliverance 2andClair Obscur: Expedition 33. Only time will tell whether it finds its way to PlayStation 5 three, six, or twelve months from now.
