Summary
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2is an RPG that’s primarily story-driven. This means that players build their characters through dialogue choices instead of choosing their class and skills before the game begins. Classes inKingdom Come: Deliverance 2are called “playstyles,” and in one of the first conversations that Henry has, he has to choose from one of three, which is the main foundation of the character.
The Soldier is comparable to the Fighter or Warrior in other games, and the class has the same basic function of being a melee fighting build that usually wears heavy armor and can use various weapons. Unlike other RPGs, this doesn’texactly limit Henry’s choicestoo much because the game focuses heavily on realism, so players who choose Advisor or Scout can still try their hand at different weapons and equipment. This makes the style of this RPG more likeSkyrimas opposed toD&D-based games likeBG3.

It’s helpful to remember thatKingdom Come: Deliverance 2is set in the real world, so players will never have to deal with magic users as in other RPGs. The flip side of this, however, is that characters have to train with weapons to get better at using them.
1The Uncomplicated Class
Melee Fighting Is Always A Simple Option
Just like in real life, the career of a Soldier isn’t exactly one of nuance. The concept of less talk and more force is an old one in video games, and in RPGs, it’s also the least complicated build compared to spellcasters, ranged fighters, or stealthy characters.
Although the Soldier class is described as “short-tempered,” players who choose this class are still free to pursue more diplomatic or peaceful dialogue choices, which is another way ofcustomizing the class. For a more straightforward game, play Henry as a soldier with a strong will but weak planning skills and let Hans be the diplomat.

2Increased Combat Skills
+1 To Fighting Abilities
The progression inKCD2isbased on a realistic worldinstead of a fantasy one, so when the player chooses Soldier, it’s assumed that he’s already done some basic training and has ability scores to reflect that. The Soldier gets a +1 to Strength and Agility immediately, and gets the most buffs to Combat skills, with +1 also going to Warfare, Swords, Heavy Weapons, and Unarmed fighting.
That’s by far the most generous of the other two classes when it comes to Combat and Stats. Henry can check the Codex to get more information on each of these skills as he acquires them on his journey after taking certain dialogue options.

3Choose A Weapon
The Soldier Class Has More Options
Any character can try using and training with different weapons and fighting styles, but Soldier Henry has a buff in all of them and can choose his specialty.Early in the game, when Henry and his companions are chatting, he reveals through exposition what his favorite is.
Marksmanship is ranged fighting and can refer to a bow and arrow or a crossbow. If Henry says he can manage without a weapon, he fights with his fists. If he replies that he prefers maces, that refers to heavy weapons, including big ones like hammers and axes along with maces. Players who want a more immersive RP experience that continues from the previous game might want to choose Swords because Henry’s father had a fine sword that the recurring villain stole.

4Intimidating Dialogue Skills
The Soldier’s Way Of Persuasion
Soldiers don’t have to talk a lot to get what they want, another unique feature of the class, instead relying on their intimidating presence to get their way. This ability is influenced by Strength, and since the Soldier gets a bonus here, they already have an advantage.
This can vary for the Soldier as well since they’ll be more intimidating and command more respect if they’re on a horse wearing armor as opposed to being on foot and wearing a dirty tunic. Keep in mind this is the real world, and how a person looks is just as important as how they sound.

5Blacksmithing
Soldiers Have More Incentive For This Crafting Skill
One of the earliest quests in the game is “Wedding Crashers” in which Henry and Hans try to get an invite to the upcoming nuptial celebrations. The local lord Otto von Bergow will be there, and not only do they have a message for His Lordship, but he can also identify them and confirm they are messengers, not beggars or thieves.
There are two major choices before the player at this point. They can eitherapproach the Blacksmithor the Miller to help them get in, either through some good deeds or by making enough money to buy a better set of clothing. Henry can sell the weapons he makes at the Blacksmith, but he can also keep and use them - a Soldier would have better luck with the latter.

6Better Living Through Booze
Soldiers Have Better “Social” Skills
When it comes to social Skills, the mighty Soldiers don’t have as many options. Scouts and Advisors get various buffs in this area, but Soldiers only get one. The Drinking Skill is one of the non-combat skills in the game and it’s much more useful than just silly fun in the local tavern.
A better Drinking skill means that Henry is more resilient against the Drunkeness condition, and any character can find and read the book “Tavern Life” to improve this skill. There are a total of nine Drinking Perks that are open to any player, but the Solider will likely reach these levels first. One example is “Loose Tongue” which gives Henry a +1 to Speech and Charisma when he’s drunk, but if he’s hungover, those same stats drop by -1.
