Call of Duty: Black Ops 6Zombies fans had low expectations for Season 2, as based on previous games, a significant down period between DLC 1 and 2 maps was expected. However, for this year’s 115 Day, Treyarch shocked fans by not only unveiling details about the next map, but confirming its release for the launch of Season 2. While it remains to be seen if the developer can keep up this unprecedented pace of map releases for the game’s entire life cycle,The Tomb’s imminent debuthas undoubtedly gotten the fan base excited.
WhileBlack Ops 6fans will get to experience The Tomb in all its glory come January 28, Treyarch has already unveiled a fair bit of info about the upcoming Zombies map. Fans have been provided with some details about the dig site’s lore, a snippet of the map’s hidden Easter egg song, and a teaser for a Wonder Weapon ‘inspired’ by the mode’s past. An Origins-like Pack-a-Punch camo has also been hinted at for the map, as have numerous side quests, but the most exciting teaser of all may be for a regular weapon. According to Treyarch, “one of the most iconic SMGs in Zombies history” is being brought back to add to the map’s personality, and there are a few weapons that immediately come to mind upon seeing this phrasing.

What SMG Could CoD Zombies’ Tomb Map Be Bringing Back?
Call of DutyZombies, and the wider franchise as a whole, has had no shortage of memorable SMGs for players to wield.Black Ops 6has already paid tribute to one of the series’ fictional creations, the VMP, while many others have become fan favorites over the years. Though there has been one Zombies-only SMG that could be featured in The Tomb, that being the Bootlegger fromBlack Ops 3(a reskin of the Type 100), the following options seem much more likely given their popularity:
It’s currently unclear if this SMG will have weapon levels and unlockable attachments likeBlack Ops 6’s other guns.
No Matter What Treyarch Chooses, The Tomb’s Special Regular Weapon is a Big Win
Though the MP40 or PPSh-41 feel like the most likely possibilities for the SMGs that The Tomb could revive, fans are likely to be happy regardless of the gun Treyarch chooses to add. Not only will the weapon be a nice burst of nostalgia, but its inclusion picks up whereCitadelle Des Mortsleft off in regard to making maps more distinct. One criticism levied at recent Zombies modes is that every map feels the same because they share mechanics like weapon rarity, killstreaks, and armor, so adding more distinct features to them goes a long way. More side Easter eggs with exciting rewards is certainly one way to go about this, as are maps with bolder settings, but the importance of unique weapons cannot be denied. One of the many things that made Origins special was exclusive weapons like the MGO8 LMG and Mauser pistol, so the Tomb adding a unique regular weapon of its own is a big win.
