Summary
I’m eagerly awaitingthe upcoming horror legacy sequelsScream 7,Scary Movie 6, andI Know What You Did Last Summer. But I’m also excited about Blumhouse’s 2025horrorreleases, fromWolf MantotheChristopher Landon thrillerDrop. Since Jason Blum founded the company in 2000, Blumhouse has been entertaining horror fans with supernatural franchises such asParanormal ActivityandInsidious. But the company has also made plenty of original films, fromGet OuttoThe Black Phone.
I’ve marked my calendar with Blumhouse’s 2025 releases and can’t wait to be creeped out. However, there’s oneBlumhouse 2024 horror movie that I’m still reflecting on. It’s an underrated story that deserved more attention than it got, and I think all horror and thriller fans should watch it.

Here’s Why I Love The Blumhouse 2024 Horror Movie House Of Spoils
House of Spoilsis an underrated Blumhouse 2024 horror moviethat began streaming on Amazon Prime Video in October 2024. It tells the story of a character known as Chef (Ariana DeBose) who dreams of leaving her stressful life behind and running her own restaurant. She moves to the country to be the head chef of a new and exciting venture… only todiscover a supernatural presence on the property. Did a witch used to live there? Is the place haunted? Is the chef in danger? There are someterrible supernatural villains in thriller and horror movies, but this one is great.
I loveHouse of Spoilsfor two reasons:itbrilliantly explores the creative challenge of being a chefand it alsoserves as a great example of a well-made supernatural film. As Chef works through a cool new menu that is inspired by the natural beauty and plants around her, she hires Lucia (Barbie Ferreira) to be her sous chef. The two struggle to find common ground as Lucia doesn’t have much experience. This professional relationship perfectly explores the real power dynamics in the restaurant industry. WhileHouse of Spoilshas unsettling moments that rivalthe trailer for the upcomingThe Woman in the Yard, it’s also a look at how someone tries to achieve their career dreams, and I rooted for Chef the whole time.

Although there are somegreat Blumhouse non-supernatural movies, some of Blumhouse’s most compelling films deal with the paranormal.House of Spoilsfits into that category and tells a memorable story about an intelligent and ambitious main character. The movie has a proper ending and explains what is going on at the property instead of being vague.I appreciate a solid ending that doesn’t leave everything up in the airand think thatHouse of Spoilsdelivers on its eerie and haunting premise.

LikeHouse of Spoils,Smile 2is a well-made funny yet scary movie, and I appreciate thatboth movies have a sense of humor. I think the best films include some humorous scenes along with jump scares and supernatural entities or masked killers. My favorite scene is when Chef makes a gourmet meal for the investor Andres (Arian Moayed) out of ingredients from a local supermarket and the fancy people she’s trying to impress have no idea.

Of these four Blumhouse 2024 releases,Night SwimandImaginaryare the weakest, but still interesting.Night Swimhas a solid endingand while it wasn’t the most beloved scary movie released last year, it’s an interesting look at a family dealing with the tragedy of a husband and father’s injury and the supernatural entity found in their pool.
