Burger Kingis looking for a Whopper-o-logist to determine the quality of its burgers at multiple BK restaurants. While it might sound like a job that would be perfect for some, there are a number of catches that job hopefuls should be aware of.

It’s been an exciting time to be a fan of American fast food chains, with some of the leading chains likeMcDonald’s offeringPokemon TCGHappy Mealsand KFC opening a new restaurant called Saucy. BK hasn’t been left out of the trend, and is now doing something that might draw some attention to the chain.

A new job listing for a Burger King Whopper-o-logist has been posted. The job listing says that it’s looking for an individual that’s passionate about food and can evaluate the quality of its iconicWhopper burgeracross multiple restaurants. Burger King says it’s looking for someone who can not only consider the flavor, but also the craftsmanship and quality of the ingredients that go into its food. It’s an interesting position that bears some slight similarities to that of mystery shoppers that are responsible for assessing a store’s performance by going there and acting like a normal customer. However, while burger fans might be interested in this role, there are some catches.

Burger King Whopper-o-logist Role is Limited

To start, interested applicants need to be at least 18 years of age and be able to work in Auckland City,New Zealand. Applicants should have strong communication skills and be able to provide character and professional references with their application. However, the most important detail to note is near the end of the job application, where the Whopper-o-logist job listing indicates that this is a two-day contract, starting on February 24.Applications are being accepteduntil January 31.

One might wonder what the point of this position is, as hiring one person to taste test Whoppers over the course of two days seems a bit odd. The listing is part of an initiative in New Zealand called Job Hunt January, “the brainchild of Trade Me Jobs and a handful of epic New Zealand brands redefining ‘work life.” The same campaign was run in 2024, which offered a similar role in aKFCWicked Wing taste tester position. The job role was similarly short, but nonetheless had nearly 1,000 applicants and the position itself was viewed over 70,000 times. While far from a full-time position, this new Burger King spot might be a fun way to spend some time, get a little experience, and to add an unusual role to one’s CV.
