Summary

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6players are calling for developer Treyarch Studios to bring back weapon skin customization, a feature that was added with the game’s Season 1 update before being almost immediately removed. The feature, which was also seen in 2022’sModern Warfare 2, briefly made its return inCall of Duty: Black Ops 6, allowing users to mix and match their weapon blueprint skins onto different weapon attachments.

Weapon camos and blueprints have become a prominent part of theCall of Dutyseries in recent years. While fans are calling for the ability to customize their weapons in a more unique manner, others are begging Treyarch to fix themany broken weapon blueprints inBlack Ops 6. In recent weeks, Treyarch has released various weapon blueprints via the in-game store that fans have been blasting as “pay to lose.” The blueprints, which come with unique weapon skins and pre-determined attachments, all seem to have one common issue: removing the weapon’s optic leaves the gun unusable due to visual effects. Treyarch has still yet to address the issue, but now it looks like fans have yet another request for the studio.

Black Ops 6 Players Want Weapon Skin Customization to Return

With the game’s Season 1 update last year, fans were ecstatic to see the addition of a skin customization option inBlack Ops 6’s Gunsmith. The feature allowed users to switch out the skins on individual attachments, as opposed to just changing the look of the entire weapon. Sadly, it was only available in-game for a matter of days before being mysteriously removed by Treyarch. Fans are now into the first week of Season 2 and are calling for the studio to bring the feature back. In a new post on Reddit, user Max_Rockwell said the feature had a “huge appeal” to them and that they hope to see it return soon. Others, such asLicensed_Ignorance, agree, saying they would “love” to see the feature return.

While fans continue to call for the return of weapon skin customizations, Treyarch recently added a highly requestedcamo tracking feature toBlack Ops 6with the game’s Season 2 update. The feature was previously available in 2023’sModern Warfare 3,allowing users to track their challenge progress in-game. However, upon the release ofBlack Ops 6in 2024, fans were left disappointed to find that this handy quality-of-life feature was not present. Thankfully, withBlack Ops 6’s camo grind being such a popular element in Treyarch’s latest shooter, the studio heard the outcry from the community and added the feature to the game with Season 2 earlier this month.

Season 2 ofBlack Ops 6kicked off on January 28, adding various new multiplayer maps, weapons, modes, and more to the game. Unfortunately, the update didn’t add much toWarzone,Call of Duty's hit Battle Royale title. With the shooter currently plagued by hackers, bugs, glitches, and various other issues, publisher Activision announced it would be prioritizing gameplay tuning, bug fixes, and quality-of-life improvements for the duration of Season 2, which means there’s far less content forWarzoneplayers to check out.
