Summary

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6players are concerned that the new Front Man operator skin, which can be obtained via theSquid GameEvent Pass, could be considered pay-to-win due to its dark design. TheCall of Dutycommunity has previously experienced issues withModern Warfare’s Roze skin, which Infinity Ward was forced to adjust due to backlash, but nowBlack Ops 6players may be about to experience a very similar problem with the latest skin to join the game.

Back in the days of 2019’sModern Warfare, theRook skin for Roze caused massive outrage amongCall of Dutyplayersdue to the operator’s fully blacked-out attire. WhileBlack Ops 6is a much more vibrant game, the rebootedModern Warfareseries opted for a much darker tone, which meant skins of this nature were almost impossible to see in certain lighting. With the skin quickly becoming the meta due to it practically making players invisible, Infinity Ward was forced to increase the brightness of the outfit multiple times until it could be easily seen in all types of lighting. Now, however,Black Ops 6fans are concerned that they’re about to experience something similar.

Call of Duty Players Express Concern Over New Black Ops 6 Skin

The Front Man operator skin inBlack Ops 6was released on January 3 along with the newSquid Gamecollaboration event. While the skin isn’t purchasable via the in-game store, it can be obtained via the controversial Event Pass, which works similarly to the seasonal Battle Pass. While there are plenty of players still working their way through the pass to obtain the skin, some are taking to social media to express their concerns that the blacked-out outfit could be another “pay-to-win” scenario, similar to the days of Roze’s Rook skin inModern Warfare.

Call of Duty’s newSquid Gameskinappears to have divided the community, with some sharing the concern that the Front Man is going to become another Roze incident, while others believeBlack Ops 6’slighting means this is a non-issue. While there are plenty ofReddit postsappearing on theBlack Ops 6subreddit calling the Front Man a “new sweat skin,” Reddit userZero-Order-93said that they have “already seen [the skin] in the game” and noted that it has “standard visibility.“JayFranMaralso agrees, noting that the lighting has been “changed up” since the days of theModern Warfareseries, so these types of skins are a lot more visible.

While the skin doesn’t appear to be causing mass controversy just yet,Call of Duty’sSquid Gamecollaboration has already outraged the community. Prior to the event’s release, a leaked message of the day revealed that there would be a premium Event Pass added with the newSquid Gamecollaboration, allowing users to purchase the pass and work their way through it to earn exclusive rewards. The pass works similarly to the seasonal Battle Pass, but fans were quick to blast Activision as “greedy” for adding another paid pass on top of the existing Battle Pass and Blackcell edition, which was also incredibly controversial in itself when it was first released.
