Summary
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6players are pleading with developer Treyarch Studios to bring back Warpaint, an iconic cosmetic feature that has only been featured in three differentCall of Dutytitles over the years:Black Ops,Black Ops 4,andWW2. With operator skins and weapon blueprints becoming a staple of theCall of Dutyfranchise in recent years,Black Ops 6players believe it’s time for this classic feature to return.
Ever since Infinity Ward rebooted theModern Warfareseries in 2019, outlandish operator skins and unique weapon blueprints have become a divisive topic in theCall of Dutycommunity. Year after year, Activision releases unrealistic cosmetic items that some players believe ruin the theme ofCall of Duty. Others, however, argue thatCall of Dutyhas never been a realistic military simulator, so a few vibrant operator skins here and there make no difference.Black Ops 6’s operator skinshave once again taken things to the next level, creating an even bigger divide among the community, but now some players believe a different type of cosmetic item should take center stage.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Players Want Warpaint to Return
In a new post on Reddit, user Little_Pomelo2573 urged Treyarch to bring back Warpaint, with a slight difference. Unlike many of the otherBlack Ops 6weapon blueprints, operator skins, and various other cosmetic items, the user says Warpaint should be “earned, not purchased.” This would mean that players would be able to earn various face paints via in-game challenges or by reaching a specific level, but not everybody is optimistic. Reddit userRgraff58says that it will “never happen as long as greed exists,” whileFraegtgaortdsays they would “love to see it”, but it’ll “never happen again.”
After only being featured in twoBlack Opsgames, face camouflagemade a return inCall of Duty: WW2,allowing players to customize their character with a variety of different face camos. Sledgehammer Games' 2017 shooter allowed players to purchase a variety of different cosmetic items, such as helmets and face camos, each coming in different rarities and purchasable with Armory Credits. Smaller customization options such as face paint sadly haven’t been seen in aCall of Dutytitle since, but it looks like there’s a clear demand from players to see the feature return.
While the return of face camo inCall of Dutyis unlikely, there is expected to be plenty of new content coming to bothCall of Duty: WarzoneandCall of Duty: Black Ops 6with Season 2on January 28. With Season 1 finally coming to an end, Activision is expected to release a brand-new Battle Pass filled with a plethora of new cosmetic items and consumables, with full details likely to arrive roughly one week before the season’s launch.
