Treyarch has revealed exactly how manyCall of Duty: Black Ops 6cheaters have been banned from the game after the introduction of Ranked Play mode. The number will come as great news to legitimateCall of Duty: Black Ops 6players, even if there’s still work to be done for Treyarch.
It’s no secret thatCall of Duty: Black Ops 6has a frustrating cheating problem. The problem got worse when Treyarch released the Ranked mode forBlack Ops 6, with several high-profileCall of Dutyplayers calling out the developer during this time. Steps have been made to improve the situation, and from Season 2, console players will be able todisable cross-play inBlack Ops 6’s Ranked Playmode. This should go some way to tackling the cheating issue for many players, so let’s see how it shakes out.
In the latestcommunity update, Treyarch revealed that since the release ofCall of Duty: Black Ops 6’s Ranked Play, it has banned over 136,000 cheaters, and claims, “We’re not slowing down in our mission to shut down cheaters whose only mission is to ruin the fun for everyone else.” It does point out that these bans are all account-based, as IP bans can affect areas like college campuses or internet cafes, making it nearly impossible to enforce without punishing innocent players.

As part of the community update, Treyarch also outlined more future plans to upgradeCall of Duty: Black Ops 6’s anti-cheat. Season 2 will see “New and improved client and server-side detections and systems” as well as a “New tampering detection system.” Looking further to Season 3 and beyond, Treyarch also plans to implement “A multitude of new tech including a brand-new system to authenticate legit players and target cheaters,” although it also claims that “it’s important we don’t provide too many details that could give cheat developers a peek behind the curtain.”
Season 2 ofCall of Duty: Black Ops 6is set to launch on January 28, providing an injection of new content into the popular FPS. Much has been made of the game’s drop in player count in recent weeks, although hopefully, the release of Season 2 will get players excited about the game again. Presumably,Black Ops 6will follow the same seasonal content model as previous releases, meaning there’s plenty more to come throughout 2025.
