Thanks toMicrosoft’s 2023 acquisition of Activision Blizzard, the company now owns both series, which would theoretically make it easier for any potential collaboration to happen.
According toCall of Dutyleaker TheGhostOfHope on X, Sledgehammer Games had plans for a bigHalocollaboration inModern Warfare 3. This would have included various maps from theHalofranchise, and while they did stop short of naming any specific maps, the image included showsHalo 3’s The Pit. In terms of size, this could definitely make for a solid small-scaleCall of Dutymap. In a follow-up post, TheGhostOfHope claimed to believe that Microsoft shot down the idea, in the same way it did whenSecret Level asked about aHaloxDoomcrossover episode.
Microsoft Allegedly Vetoed Call of Duty x Halo Collaboration
Although aHalocollaboration sounds a little out there, forCall of Duty, it isn’t at this point. The days ofCall of Dutybeing a serious military shooter are long gone, with tons of purchasable cosmetics and frequent crossovers with other franchises. It’s true of the current game in the series,Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and it was true ofModern Warfare 3, too. Perhaps the strangest in recent memory was whenCall of DutyaddedTerrifier’s Art the Clownas an Operator. While Microsoft may have vetoed aHalocollaboration for the time being, it doesn’t feel out of the realm of possibility that it could revisit the idea in the future.
Activision may have leftModern Warfare 3behind at this point, but the fun continues withCall of Duty: Black Ops 6. The latest game in the series has been receiving frequent content updates, with more crossovers and collaborations to take part in. The biggest so far wasSquid Game, which had its own Premium Battle Pass to complete. Treyarch recently revealed theSeason 2 Patch Notes forCall of Duty: Black Ops 6, letting players know what they can expect when they hop into the action in the new Season.
