Summary
Verdansk is officially returning toCall of Duty: Warzonelater this year, but some players are concerned that the iconic map’s comeback “won’t be the same.” Activision announced last year during a COD: Next event that the very firstCall of Duty: Warzonemap would be returning in 2025, but as its release gets closer and closer, players are realising that map’s return probably isn’t going to feel like the glory days of 2020.
Since the launch ofWarzoneback in March 2020, each new mainlineCall of Dutygame has been fully integrated with the popular Battle Royale title. From the rebootedModern Warfareseries to the latestBlack Opsentry, each title has brought new seasonal content, features, and big gameplay changes toWarzone. Unfortunately, not all of these integrations have been a hit with fans. With many of them bringing new Battle Royale andResurgence maps toWarzone, each new release has had fans yearning more and more for the return of Verdansk.

Call of Duty: Warzone Players Concerned Verdansk “Won’t Be the Same”
After thehuge success ofFortniteOG, plenty of other live-service titles have followed suit. FromApex LegendstoOverwatch, more and more multiplayer titles are beginning to return to their most iconic eras, usually for a limited time.Call of Duty: Warzoneis the next title to follow the trend, with Verdansk set to return later this year. However, fans are concerned that despite the huge anticipation, its return “won’t be the same.” Verdansk became an icon in the Battle Royale genre back in 2020, but withCall of Duty: Warzone’s massive evolution over the years, a plethora of new gameplay mechanics and weapons has players concerned that Verdansk’s return will be in vain.
In a new post on Reddit, user ScreamyV said they are “forcing” themselves to believe thatVerdansk’s return toWarzonewill “feel and be the same,” but admits that “in reality,” it won’t. Other users appear to agree, with Reddit userOk-Hornet-1313stating that Verdansk was “another level of gaming” and believes that feeling can’t be captured on the newer version ofWarzone.Another userpointed out thatWarzone"plays way too different" when compared to the original days of Verdansk and also has drastically different gameplay mechanics.
Aside from a vague Spring 2025 release window, there’s no official word from Activision as to when the map will return. However, a recent leak suggests thatVerdansk will launch alongsideWarzoneSeason 3. Sadly, with Season 2 still over a week away, this means fans will likely be waiting quite some time for the map’s return. Although there’s no confirmation on the release date for Season 3, given the usual length of eachCall of Dutyseason, Verdansk could be returning sometime in March. That’s if the recent leak is to be believed.
