Notable actors lending their talent toDate Everythingnumber in the dozens, and now a new name has joined them:Avatar: The Last Airbender’sDante Basco as Dante the Fireplace.

Dante Basco Plays Dante The Fireplace InDate Everything

In a conversation with Game Rant,Date EverythingdevelopersRay Chase, Robbie Daymond, and Amanda Hufford revealed the character of Dante, who Daymond in particular has been excited about since early in the game’s development. Daymond had Basco in mind for a role from the beginning, feeling that the actor’s voice would fit well in a game ofDate Everything’sgenre. “He’s got a really sexy voice,” Daymond enthused with a massive grin. “And I was like, ‘Man, I feel like it would be great in a dating sim.'”

The choice of a fireplace for Basco to voice is a deliberate nod to his famous role as Prince Zuko of the Fire Nation inAvatar: The Last Airbender. The character starts the series as a conflicted villain before joining the heroes in an extremely well-regarded storyline. The team also liked Basco for the role because the fireplace is one of the largest and most iconic objects in the house, serving as somewhat of a centerpiece. Daymond said the idea came to him pretty much immediately:

“We have this big beautiful fireplace, this hearth in the middle of our living room. I was like, ‘Ah, this is Dante.’ And we obviously have the not-so subtle wink and nod toAvatar,of course. So I’m like, ‘I feel this is too perfect to not just ask him to come in and do it,’ and he knocked it out of the park.”
