Summary
Bungie reveals major changes planned forDestiny 2’s competitive PvP mode, Trials of Osiris when Episode Heresy launched in February. Originally a popularDestinygame mode, Bungie would eventually bring Trials of Osiris back toDestiny 2, following a less than successful attempt at creating a similar experience with Trials of the Nine.
Over the years, however, Trials of Osiris would continue to see declining interest and player population. Bungie would attempt a number ofoverhauls toDestiny 2’s Trials of Osiris mode, including adding new weapons and even make it more rewarding and accessible through vendor updates. Unfortunately, it hasn’t seemed to have a major effect on the game mode, so Bungie is attempting its most revolutionary evolution yet.

In a dedicatedblog update, Bungie revealed a massive overhaul coming to Trials of Osiris whenEpisode Heresy launches inDestiny 2, in an effort to make the game mode more appealing and fun to all players. In addition to making the mode more rewarding to play across the board, Bungie is looking to improve the gameplay to focus more on the combat rather than an objective. To that end, the studio is making improvements to Fireteam-Based Matchmaking and making zone captures not appear as soon, while being slightly longer to capture.
Destiny 2 Makes Lighthouse Runs Easier to Achieve
For Trials of Osiris, the ultimate reward was earning a visit to a simulation of the Lighthouse on Mercury for getting 7 wins in a row. With this update, Bungie is essentially ditching the “flawless or bust” mechanic and instead replace it with a system that takesDestiny 2players to the Lighthouseafter 7 wins in general. However, while 7 is still the target number, regardless of losses, players who achieve a winning streak can earn better rewards with 5 and above getting access to rare items like Ciphers, Ghost Shells, Flawless Emblems, and armor glows. Regardless, players of any skill can now get to the lighthouse to earn new gear, weapons, and even a new armor set.
With only a couple of weeks until Episode Heresy launches, Bungie has been fairly open with many of the changes on the way. Recently, the studio revealed substantialadjustments coming toDestiny 2’s subclasses and abilities, including adding a new arc trait called Bolt Charge which will further lean into its momentum-based style of gameplay.
