Destiny 2fansspeculate that the legendary hand cannon The Palindrome will be making its way back into the game alongside the launch of Episode: Heresy in February, based on a mysterious tweet posted on theDestiny 2team’s official Twitter page. WithDestiny 2recently slumping to one of its lowest points ever in terms of player count and retention, many fans are hoping that Bungie has been saving the best episode for last in the hopes that Episode: Heresy will help revitalize the game prior to its next content drop later this year, currently known as Codename: Frontiers.
AsDestiny 2draws to the end of its second episode, Revenant, Bungie hasn’t wasted any time in throwing fans some teasers regarding the game’s next major content drop. Overall, Episode: Revenant didn’t quite meet the praise it had hoped to, with much of the community criticizing both the unsatisfying narrative of the episode as well as its lackluster gameplay content, which ultimately left fans feeling disinterested in the current state of the MMORPG. That said, Episode: Revenant did shake up the game’s weapon pool a little with the reintroduction of several classic guns, including the iconic Icebreaker exotic sniper rifle - a relic from the originalDestiny.

As expected, it looks like Bungie is intent on dropping even more classic weapons back into players' hands in Heresy, which is set to go live on February 4. A seemingly cryptic message recently posted on the officialDestiny 2team’s Twitter account was quickly realized to be a palindrome - a string of words that reads the same way forwards as it does backwards. Of course, The Palindrome is also the name of a legendary hand cannon that has appeared throughout the series' historysince as far back as the firstDestiny. Though technically not outright confirmed just yet, fans suspect that this message means that the Palindrome will make its return toDestiny 2alongside the upcoming release of Episode: Heresy.
The Return of The Palindrome Should Be a More Triumphant One This Time
This won’t be the first time players have been able toobtain this classic hand cannon inDestiny 2, though the weapon has been out of rotation since The Witch Queen expansion, which launched in 2022. Though the weapon has been known as a PvP powerhouse in the distant past, its more recent appearances inDestiny 2have left fans particularly disappointed due to the undesirable selection of perks attached to the hand cannon.
As such, fans are hoping that the next incarnation of the Palindrome will see it featuring a more “meta” variety of perks. While not too much is yet known about thenext episode ofDestiny 2other than it having a focus on the Hive and the Dreadnought - yet another memorable piece of content from the original game - it’s likely that Bungie will tease the re-implementation of several more fan-favorite weapons as the episode’s release date draws nearer.
