Summary
WhenDexteraired its series finale in 2013, fans didn’t want it to be the end ofcomplicated serial killer Dexter Morgan’s (Michael C. Hall) story. Now one of the two TV shows expanding the belovedDexteruniverse has cast a beloved actress.
Deadlinereported thatUma Thurman has been cast as a series regular inDexter: Resurrection.Clyde Phillips is the showrunner and executive producer on the series. Whilethe prequel seriesDexter: Original Sinpremiered in December 2024, fans are still curious about whatDexter: Resurrectionis going to be like.

Thurman is playingHead of Security Charley who works for Leon Prater, a billionaire. Although Thurman has proven herself as a beloved action and drama star for several decades now, she hasn’t appeared in many TV shows. Some of her most memorable roles include Dr. Pamela Isley/Poison Ivy inBatman & Robinin 1997, Cécile de Volanges inDangerous Liaisonswhich was released in 1988,Mia Wallace in 1994’sPulp Fiction, and perhaps her best-known part,Beatrix Kiddo/The Bride inKill Bill: Volume 1in 2003andKill Bill: Volume 2in 2004. As for Thurman’s TV work, she played Ariana Huffington inSuper Pumpedin 2022, Lenny Cohen in six episodes of the dark comedyImpostersin 2017 and 2018, and Anouk Latham in the NBC 2015 miniseriesThe Slap.
AlthoughDexter passed away in the finale ofDexter: New Blood, the Showtime revival that aired in 2021, the serial killer is back in the new series. Viewers are curious abouthow the new show will explain what happened to this character. According toVariety, in July 2024, when Hall was asked about Dexter’s death being official at San Diego Comic-Con, he asked:
“Was it? I don’t know what I am authorized to say other than, it’s really cold out there.”
Dexter: Resurrectionincludes several familiar cast membersJack Alcott as Harrison Morgan, James Remar as Harry Morgan, and David Zayas as Detective Angel Batista. It can be challenging to achieve the correct balance of newcomers and popular cast members in a revival movie or TV show, but it looks likeDexter: Resurrectionwill do a great job. It will be interesting to see how Thurman’s character fits into this framework of engaging characters who aren’t who they seem. Chances are that Charley will have as many secrets as Dexter does, which will be fun to watch. She sounds like a complex and smart character.
Whilefans continue to wish forKill Bill 3, everyone can check out Thurman’s performance as Charley whenDexter: Resurrectionpremieres on Paramount+ with Showtime in June 2025.
