Diablo 4Season of Witchcraft is officially live, and alongside all the new content is Update 2.1, which brings a ton of new changes to the live-service title.Diablo 4is coming off of its biggest season yet, which launched alongside the Vessel of Hatred expansion, introducing the popular Spiritborn class that quickly became a damage-dealing powerhouse.
Season 7, known as the Season of Witchcraft launched on January 21 and tasks players with teamming up with the Witches of Hawezar to locate the missing heads from the Tree of Whispers. For many fans, the big addition this season isOccult Gems inDiablo 4, which seemingly give players access to abilities last seen with the Witch Doctor class in Diablo 3. However, in addition to the new content, Season 7 also brought along an absolutely massive update.
The extensivepatch notesare split into two groups, forDiablo 4Vessel of Hatred owners and those who just have the base game. Either way, there are a ton of changes and tweaks in this update, including sweepingDiablo 4class balancing. For Necromancer fans, this patch includes a wide array of buffs and improvements, such as making Blood Wave enhancements as well as much needed quality of life changes to summoning and minions.
In addition to classes and ability changes, Update 2.1 also reveals all of the changes Blizzard is making to Occult and Hex powers for Season 7. It’s clear that the Diablo 4 PTR server and testing had a significant impact on this update, which reveals that numerous hex abilities are being improved, like Poison Frog and Firebat damage.Diablo 4’s Paragon Experience systemis also seeing some big changes this season, which is now carried over to the Eternal Realm.
However, one controversial element toSeason 7 is the lack of leaderboards inDiablo 4. Community Manager Adam Fletcher responded to a fan indicating that Trial Gauntlet won’t be returning and that Blizzard is currently investigating how to do leaderboards in other ways in the future. For now, fans will need to standby until details have been released.
