Summary
The upcoming dinosaur horror gameCode Violetwill be released as a PS5 exclusive with no PC version planned.Code Violetis the next project from TeamKill Media, the studio behind the sci-fi horror gameQuantum Error. The studio has been upfront thatCode Violettakes inspiration fromDino Crisis, so fans of Capcom’s long dormant franchise may want to give it a look.
TheCode Violettrailer confirming its July 2025 release windowalso sets up the story. The gist of it is thatCode Violetfollows protagonist Violet Sinclair who finds herself in a facility overrun with deadly dinosaurs. Velociraptors and a T-Rex can be seen in theCode Violettrailer, while an official screenshot of the game also confirms that a huge crocodile will be featured as well. Reactions to the trailer have been largely negative, with many fans unimpressed withCode Violet’s graphics and general presentation. However, there is undeniably a big void left byDino Crisis, and TeamKill Media is looking to fill it withCode Violet.

WhenCode Violetreleases in July 2025, it will be doing so as one of the rare truePlayStation 5 exclusive games. TeamKill Media recently addressed the lack of a PC version ofCode Violeton social media, explaining that it doesn’t want modders to make “vulgar versions” of the main character or other characters in the game. “We hold our voice actresses and actors with high regard, as well as our artistic vision for the game and story and reject any form of destroying that with sexual mods. Making a joke out of our art and possibly tarnishing the reputation of our voice actresses and actors is not worth the extra money we can make.” As one might imagine, this statement has not gone over well, inciting even more criticism aimed at the game and its developer.
Why Code Violet Will Not Be Releasing on PC
Inappropriate modsare made for just about any game that’s released on PC, but the average consumer will never see them, and they are unlikely to have a real impact on the game’s reputation. Cutting a game off completely from a certain platform for this reason is certainly an odd choice, and it will be interesting to see what impact it has onCode Violet’s sales.
The lack of anewDino Crisisgame from Capcomhas certainly left the door open for other dinosaur horror games to step up.Code Violetmay drum up more interest than expected because of that, but it remains to be seen how it stacks up to other games in the genre when it launches this July, exclusively for PS5.
