Summary

After the passing of the legendary Akira Toriyama, theDragon Ball Supermanga understandably went on an indefinite hiatus. So far, nothing is known about the full return of the series, but there is a one-shot set for release in April 2025 that seems to feature Goten and Trunks as the main focus of the chapter. Despite this, the return of the manga to a monthly release format remains uncertain.

However, it’s highly likely that theDragon Ball Supermanga will return and, when it does, there are some incredible potential story arcs awaiting the heroes. In this article, let’s go over the most probable story arc that fans can look forward to since it is the one that has been teased for years now as the most likely choice for the next step in the journey of the Z-Fighters.

Dragon Ball Super, Chapter 5, “Beerus and Champa”

Debut Date

July 05, 2025

When it was revealed that there was an entire multiverse within the franchise, fans became incredibly excited due to the near-limitless possibilities for where the story could go. The first taste of it came with Champa, who is Beerus’s twin brother and theGod of Destruction of Universe 6, after which a small tournament was held to decide which universe Planet Earth would be located in.

Before the start of this tournament, a bombshell reveal was made; that Saiyans also existed in Universe 6 but were fairly different from their Universe 7 counterparts. For starters, they still lived on Planet Sadala as it hadn’t been destroyed in a civil war, and these Saiyan were hired to be guardians of different planets and races rather than being warriors who conquered every planet that they went to. This stark difference between the nature of the Saiyans of both universes struck not only Goku and Vegeta, but all fans too.

Fast-forward to the Tournament of Power, where Goku and Vegeta would come across these Saiyans once more. At this stage, Vegeta and Cabba worked up a student-teacher relationship, which ended with Vegeta promising that he would save Universe 6 upon winning the tournament and that he would also come to visit one day. So, when Android 17 won the tournament and wished back all erased universes,Universe 6 returned as well, paving the way for a future arc where the Z-Fighters eventually go to the original planet of the Saiyans.

This is the perfect next step for the future of the franchise since it is not only something that’s been teased for all these years, but fans would also love to see it, specifically Vegeta and Goku reacting to how prosperous and peaceful Saiyans could have been. This would, perhaps, also prompt a change in their mindsets, while at the same time, fostering a line of thinking within the Universe 6 Saiyans of the importance of training and being prepared to face down any threats.

Surrender is an outcome far worse than defeat. I won’t tolerate that kind of weak behavior from a Saiyan!

Moreover, this would be particularly great for Vegeta, since he was more tied in with the Universe 6 Saiyans than Goku was. Due to him being the prince of a race that only has a handful of survivors, his interactions with the Saiyans in a different setting would be amazing to see. Since the Universe 6 Saiyans are largely peaceful people, the arc could see the few warriorsteam up with Goku and Vegetato take down a threat the rest aren’t prepared for.

The Universe 6 arc would also see the return of several other fan-favorite characters such as Hit, who had a lot of potential but his story was never really shown. An arc in Universe 6 sets the perfect stage for this character to be greatly expanded upon and to have his backstory fleshed out in order to see what exactly led this man down this path in life. All in all, this arc is the best one in terms of what awaits the heroes whenDragon Ball Superreturns.

How To Deal With Power Scaling

The Characters At Their Strongest

Despite Universe 6 being the best option for the next step in the journey of the Z-Fighters, the problem of power scaling still exists.Ever since the Tournament of Power, the disparity between the strength of the strongest characters in the series and those who exist below such a level is insane considering the new transformations that the Z-Fighters have unlocked. In fact, even Jiren was far stronger than the most powerful Universe 6 character.

This does present a problem since Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Broly, and Piccolo are all millions of times stronger than they were during the tournament owing to their incredible new transformations. The issue that arises here is that although the Universe 6 characters have likely gotten far stronger than they were during the tournament, it’s highly unlikely that they are on the level of the Z-Fighters, especially considering how the threats in their universe are considerably weaker than those in Universe 7.

I’ll try to make myself stronger, just like you!

However,Dragon Ballis no stranger to adding new concepts to the story that can change how things work, so it’s possible that the Universe 6 characters will get an incredible boost in strength or even how the Z-Fighter’s power could be brought down to be on the level of others. Whatever the case may be, the Universe 6 arc will most likely be the best story arc for the series once it returns.
