After recovering Linda’s bag in Act 2 ofDreadOut, players will enter a grotto that is home to a candle puzzle. While fans may have an idea about how they are meant to approach this puzzle, actually solving it can prove to be quite difficult. Indeed, players must perform some very specific actions if they hope to complete the candle puzzle inDreadOut’s Act 2, and this guide is here to detail exactly what those actions are.
Players should use theSLR camerawhen attempting to solve the Act 2 candle puzzle. Fans ofsurvival horror gamescan switch between the SLR and Linda’s phone by pressing the switch equipment input, and that input can be learned by opening the inventory menu, selecting the SLR camera under the equipment tab, and reading its description.
DreadOut: Act 2 Candle Puzzle Solution
Thiscandle puzzle inDreadOutis solved by illuminating the three blue candles that are behind the dancing woman and then taking a picture of them. This is a multipart process, and here are the steps that players should take:
Light Candle #1
To light the first candle, players should pass through an opening in afence on the left side of the grotto. There is a small alcove beyond that fence, and fans ofindie horror gamesshould make their way to the far side and then turn to face the fence. From this position, players will see asnakeon top of a nearby boulder, afigure with crossed armsnear the fence, andtwo wingsextending from the fence.
The goal is now to take a photo in which the snake appears to be wrapped around the figure and the two wings appear to be extending from it. The image that is above showcases an angle that players should replicate, and a detailed photo will flash on the screen when a suitable picture has been taken.
Players should now look toward thesmall statueon their right, and they will find that the candle that is near it is lit. Fans ofhorror games with female protagonistsshould approach that candle and photograph it with the SLR camera to extinguish it and cause the first candle in the puzzle to illuminate.
Light Candle #2
Players should now cross to theright side of the grotto. Here, fans will find a small path that can be used to enter yet another alcove, and there is apile of rocksnear a tree at its center. AKerisis stuck into those rocks, and players can remove it with the interact input.
After removing the Keris, players should approach thenearby statueand pull out the SLR camera. Fans ofgames likeFatal Frameshould then photograph the newly-illuminated candle that is in front of the statue to extinguish it and light up a second candle in the puzzle.
Light Candle #3
Players should now navigate to theback-right corner of the grotto. Here, fans will find a black cat and somegreen fernsthat block the path. Players can remove those ferns by standing directly next to them and using theSLR camera’s flash.
To use the SLR’s flash, players should press the flash input when Linda is holding the camera,notwhen she is looking through its viewfinder to take a picture. The flash input can be learned by opening the inventory menu, selecting the SLR camera under the equipment tab, and reading its description.
With the ferns removed, players should follow the path to reach a dead end that is created by some fallen trees. There is an illuminated candle in the alcove beyond those trees, and fans should pull out the SLR camera,zoomon the candle, and take a photo to extinguish it and light the third candle in the puzzle.

Photograph the Three Candle Puzzle
The grotto should now be dark, and players shouldreturn to the three candle puzzle, using the SLR’s flash to light the way if needed. Fans should then situate themselvesin frontof the three candles, pull out the SLR, and take a photo of the candles. This photo should extinguish all three candles and open a path that is behind them. If that path has not opened, players should match the photo angle depicted in the image that is above and take another picture.
