Summary
Dynasty Warriors: Originshas a different leveling-up system than most Musou games. It’s all tied to raising proficiencies with weapons like swords or spears. When a weapon levels up then players also gain a new rank. In certain tiers, players can get new skill trees to put skill points into.
Skill points can be earned through this leveling-up process inDynasty Warriors: Originsand they can also be gained from side quests or killing more enemies on missions. However, players acquire skill points doesn’t matter as this list is merely here to discuss the best skills that can be found early in the game ranked by their overall usefulness.

7Boost Stats
From Attack To HP
There are three types of stat-boosting skills that players can acquire throughout most skill trees in the game. Attack Amplifier will raise the damage of normal attacks, Defense Fortifier will lessen the damage sustained from enemies, and Increase Health will raise The Wanderer’s HP levels. Typically these skills will be split at a crossroads on the skill tree. Which way players should go depends on whatdifficulty mode they are on inDynasty Warriors: Origins. Players on higher difficulties require more defense or HP, for example.
6Chain Evasion
Dodge Like A Pro
Dynasty Warriors: Originshas a pretty good dodge system for a Musou game. If players dodge at just the right time, there will be a slight slowdown to allow players to counter. It’s not as aggressively slowed like Witch Time in theBayonettaseries but it’s still pretty cool to see executed.
Chain Evasion is a skill that will allow players to keep going with their dodges instead of having to hold back on recharges. A good associated skill is called Perfect Evade which will give players Bravery Points for a successful Perfect Evade dodge. The naming convention is confusing for sure, but beneficial nonetheless as Bravery Points are used for combat abilities calledBattle Arts inDynasty Warriors: Origins.

5Aerial Retribution
Countering With Style
Players can block, parry, and counter enemies in the game which are all pretty easy to pull off. There are some Battle Arts that make the whole parry-countering system even easier though like through Aerial Retribution. This Battle Art will have the player strike a counter stance. If an enemy charges forward, the player will leap into the air and create a sonic wave in the process sort of like the energyGoku can emit when he jumps in theDragon Ballanime. This should knock enemies off guard and give players a safe space to dodge in the air before rocketing back down for more blows.
4Item Investor
Gotta Collect ‘Em All
Players will begin the game with the ability to carry one type of item, Meat Buns. As they progress, they will unlock item shops where players can buy various items to boost stats. For example, a Fortitude Pill will increase defense for a limited time. Item Investor will allow players to hold more items when they go into battle which can be equipped. A well-stocked warrior is a smart warrior ina Musou gameeven if there are alternatives.
3Meat Bun Glutton
Hold More To Heal More
The alternative to random items is the aforementioned Meat Buns. This is the standard healing item in the game and players will be well-stocked with them on every mission. They’re not quite likeEstus Flasks in theDark Soulsseries, but they are close. They can be found from fallen warriors in battle or pots stashed around enemy bases. Meat Bun Glutton is a skill that allows players to hold more Meat Buns at one time. Meat Perceiver, another skill, allows players to see Meat Buns around the map with Eyes of the Sacred Bird activated and Greater Gratification will increase the healing potency.
2Dispersion Arrow
A Bow-tastic Battle Art
Dispersion Arrow is another good Battle Art worth getting as soon as possible. It costs a lot of Bravery Points, four, but it is worth every one. There are no bowweapon types inDynasty Warriors: Originsto equipnormally, but this Battle Art produces one to send a large volley of arrows at enemies.
It’s good for controlling crowds, especially during the large, end-chapter blowouts in the game. They get pretty intense for a Musou game and that’s saying something since the franchise began decades ago.

1Army Of One
Boost Musou Gauge After Defeating 1,000 Enemies
Army of One is an essential skill to buy as soon as it becomes available in the skill trees. This will boost The Wanderer’s power once they defeat 1,000 enemies in battle, but only temporarily. Specifically, it will boost Musou attacks to be even more devastating than they already are. Players are already an army of one when they play these games, so this skill just solidifies the meme. Another Musou-related skill worth buying is called Extreme Musou Attacks, which allows players to partner with allies to perform team attacks with the Musou Gauge during battle.
