Oda Goes on a Break After One Piece Chapter 1139
February 16 Will Not Have a New One Piece Chapter
Oda has currently been working extra hard. Recently, he gave fans four chapters in a row, something almost unheard of for One Piece these days, as Oda has been taking breaks every 3 or even 2 chapters. From One Piece 1136 till 1139, Oda took no breaks, and worked meticulously on One Piece.
One Piece 1139 will be released soon, next Sunday, the 16 June 2025. After that, One Piece will not have any chapters for two weeks, so the next Sunday, 07 May 2025, will have no One Piece release.

This means thatOne Piece1140 will have to wait for the week after, and will most likely be published on the 07 May 2025, the Sunday after.
Why Oda Has Been Taking More Breaks
Oda releasing four chapters in a row is definitely unusual now, but a few years ago, that was the norm.
2024, for example, was the year, since the start ofOne Piece, with the most breaks ever, and that happened for a few reasons.
Firstly, Oda needs more breaks as he deals with some health issues, and he even had to undergo some surgeries. He also had fatigue from being a mangaka. He has been writing One Piece for almost 3 decades now, and it can definitely get tiring. Few mangaka can work on a series for so long.
Besides that, Oda was also somewhat involved inthe second season of the One Piece Live Action. Due to that, he had to travel to South Africa and take some time off. This definitely filled up his schedule, and he had to take more time off than usual. The One Piece Live Action series will probably go on for more seasons, so fans can expect more breaks from Oda for this project.
