There are dozens and dozens of armor sets inElden Ring, and the vast majority of them fit into a category that could be described asElden Ringmedium armor sets. These sets can beequipped by most buildswithout any equip load issues, but could prove to be too burdensome for builds that rely on light equip load.
These best medium armor sets inElden Ringoffer agood balance of physical damage negation, elemental damage negation, and status effect resistance stats. The best medium armor setsElden Ringplayers can get, though, offer balanced defenses alongside useful passive bonuses.

The Chain Set isone of the ugliestbut most useful starter armor sets inElden Ringthanks to its high negation stats and how easy it is to get. The Chain Set can be purchased as soon as you reach the Roundtable Hold for the first time, where the Twin Maiden Husks sell each piece for about 4,500 Runes in total.
In terms of the best medium armor sets,Elden Ringplayers will likely replace pieces to this as they go. But if you’re looking for something that’s defensive without going above your equip weight, the Chain Set is a great option.

The Fingerprint Set is a medium-weightElden Ringarmor setthat players won’t be able to get until the late game. But its high physical defense stats and relatively low weight make it a great option for taking on endgame andShadow of the Erdtreecontent.
This is the armor set worn by Roundtable Knight Vyke, and features a prominent series of what look like fingerprints pressed into the helmet and other parts of the armor.

Howlow’s Set is one of the best mediumElden Ringarmor sets for its sheer style,sub-30 total equip load, and very respectable mix of physical and elemental negation stats. Two NPCs wear this inElden Ring: both Juno Hoslow and Diallos Hoslow wear this set. Diallos does not wear the headpiece, though, which is arguably the coolest part of this set.
To get Hoslow’s Set,Elden Ringplayers have to defeat Juno Hoslow as part of the Volcano Manor questline. If you want to get Diallos' mask instead of Juno’s twin horned helm, you must complete Diallos' questline.

The Carian Knight set, like the Hoslow Set, offers a good mix of defensive negations with a relatively low weight. The Carian Knight set is worn by Carian Knight Moongrum, the NPC who guards the elevator that leads to Rennala in Raya Lucaria.
This set is among the best-looking sets in the game, just as perfectly suited for Sorcery-wielders whowant to up their defensive gameas it is for players who want to up their style game.

The Ronin’s Set is one of the most iconic sets inElden Ringthanks to its gigantic, upturned-colander-like helmet. Without the helm, this armor set looks great on its own, like something a wandering warrior might wear. But the helmet really ties the whole look together.
It’s barely above 20 total weight, too, and offers some of the best medium armor elemental negations inElden Ring.

Its elemental resistances are decent, and its status affliction resistance stats are decent, too. But for less than 25 carry weight, it’s hard to find a better armor set than the Raging Wolf set.

The Royal Remains set is one of the few armor sets inElden Ringthatgrants its wearer a special effect. When equipped, pieces of the Royal Remains set will slowly regenerate your HP over time when under 20% HP. The more pieces you equip, the better this effect.
For its weight, its physical and elemental negation stats aren’t as good as some of the other best medium armor sets inElden Ring. But this special effect makes it more than worth it – plus, it makes you look like a dark revenant, and is the only set that features a straight-up skull for a helm.

The Black Knife Set, like the Royal Remains set, offers players a special passive buff when equipped. With the Black Knife Armor specifically equipped, your movements will no longer make sound, including jumping and rolling. This is an incredibly powerful ability – when combined with other stealth effects like that of the Crepus Vial talisman, normal movement becomes as sneaky as stealthed movement.
The set itself has a low overall weight and good all-around defensive stats, but this special effect is what makes it so great. This allows players to get more backstabs, get around enemy groups they’d rather not fight, and otherwise get into places where movements could alert enemies. Nevermindpumping up Poiseto tank hits, if you don’t attract enemies, you won’t get hit at all.
