Some Archons, like Nahida and Raiden Shogun, are seen as leaders by their people, while others, like Venti, take a different approach to presiding over their nation. VeteranGenshin Impactplayers might remember how Zhongli, otherwise known as the Geo Archon Morax, staged his own death to let the nation of Liyue govern itself. His plan would also benefit him, as Zhongli decided to live a peaceful life among mortals for the rest of his days. However, while Zhongli managed to deceive most of Teyvat, it seems he did not fool all of his fellow Archons, as oneGenshin Impactplayer has pointed out.
Redditor DantefromDC spotted an interesting parallel between Raiden Shogun and Zhongli while replayingGenshin Impacton a new account. As seen in the player’s post, after faking his death, Zhongli was confident that the Electro Archon would react negatively to his demise and aggravate her obsession with eternity. However, in Raiden Shogun’s voiceline about Morax, it is revealed she is aware of Zhongli’s decision. The Shogun even suggests that Zhongli’s story is far from over despite his resolve. The player pointed out how Morax, the eldest Archon, was wrong to think he could fool his equals. Both characters are some of thestrongest Archons ofGenshin Impact, and while the game’s lore implies they have crossed paths before, players have never seen the two interact in-game.

HoYoverse has confirmed that Khaenri’ah will have its own main quest, so there is a chance that Zhongli and Raiden Shogun could have important roles in the future. Moreover, both are amongGenshin Impact’s most popular characters, so developers aren’t likely to neglect them in the main story. On the other hand, Zhongli will appear in the upcoming Lantern Rite, so players can look forward to his role in the event.
