Summary
Grand Theft Auto 5actor Steven Ogg has briefly discussed his role as Trevor in a new interview, while also touching on years of speculation from fans as to whether or not he hates being associated with the character. Steven Ogg played one ofGrand Theft Auto 5’s three main protagonists over a decade ago, but despite having a hugely successful career in film and TV, appearing in the likes ofThe Walking DeadandBetter Call Saul, the actor is incredibly well-known for his portrayal of Trevor.
Although Trevor is predominantly a character associated with the game’s single-player campaign, Steven Ogg has also returned as the character forGrand Theft Auto Online. Along with Ogg, Shawn Fonteno also returned toGrand Theft Auto Onlineas his character Franklin Clintonin The Contract, a free update that added a bunch of new missions, vehicles, and more to the popular live service title. While two ofGrand Theft Auto 5’s characters have made their return inGTA Online, fans are still patiently waiting to see if Ned Luke, who portrayed Michael De Santa, will make one final return before the release ofGrand Theft Auto 6.

Steven Ogg Discusses Playing Trevor in Grand Theft Auto 5
Both Shawn Fonteno and Ned Luke have been extremely engaged with their roles inGrand Theft Auto 5. Fonteno has previously created his ownGTA Onlineroleplaying server, while Luke regularly streams himself playingGrand Theft Auto 5andGTA Online. However, Ogg has been less vocal about his role as Trevor, which has led to fans assuming he “hates” the character. In a new interview with Michael Rosenbaum, Ogg talked about (at approximately 27 minutes and 15 seconds) how fans would say he “hates being called Trevor.” The actor explained that he doesn’t like being called Trevor because that simply isn’t his name. “When people call you by your character name, it’s kinda weird because I kinda get it, but I’m also like meh,” Ogg explained.
He goes on to explain that at some point in the past, he has likely told a fan that his name isn’t Trevor, which is where the idea of him “hating” the character has come from, but Ogg says that’s not the case at all. “He’s a great character,” the actor said. “He’s awesome. I still see Shawn and Ned, we’re friends. We were just doing a Comic Con this past weekend.” Ogg finishes by saying that those comments don’t bother him as the people making them don’t know him, insinuating that no, Ogg does not hate the character as many fans believe. WhileTrevor is one of the most memorable characters inGrand Theft Auto 5, it’s clear that Ogg loved portraying him but simply wants people to greet him by his real name.

Grand Theft Autofans continued to run with the idea that Ogg hates the character as the actor recently said he would love tosee Trevor killed off in the upcomingGTA 6. The comment was a clear reference to the opening ofGrand Theft Auto 5which sees Trevor kill a prominent character from a previousGrand Theft Autogame. WithGTA 6set to feature two new protagonists, Lucia and Jason, it’s currently unclear if any past character will make an appearance in the highly anticipated title.
