Helldivers 2had a really successful 2024, ranking as the third best-selling game of the year. Upon release, it caught fans’ attention with its chaotic yet fun intergalactic experience, offering players the chance to venture across different planets to battle alien creatures. Although the game has had its share of controversy, the consistent flow of updates and Arrowhead’s open line of communication with players have helped keep it fresh and enjoyable.
With Update 01.002.101, Arrowhead is increasing the duration of the gas status effect from spray weapons from 6 to 10 seconds while implementing a timerforHelldivers 2’s Illuminatedropship wreckages. Now, Helldivers can jog while carrying two-handed items, as well as deploy grenades and stratagems when leaning out from the FRV. Additionally, players at the beginning of a mission will now have three magazines instead of two, providing a more solid start.
RegardingHelldivers 2’s stratagems, the TX-41 Sterilizer support weapon’s crosshair drift recoil has been removed, along with a reduction in camera climb recoil. Moreover, following player feedback, Arrowhead has decided not to fix a bug that increased ammo for all magazine-based weapons, and a future patch will update the Armory to properly reflect this in the description. Patch 01.002.101 tackles a significant number of issues, such as a problem where Illuminate ship shields would not take grenade damage or the health pack not restoring all of a Helldiver’s stim as it should. A wealth of crashes were also rectified, including those that happened when aborting and hot-joining a mission, switching emotes, or those caused by fires. Matchmaking has also seen some fixes to better match players from nearby regions.
As the game continues evolving through updates,Helldivers 2’s director has recently announced a sabbaticalafter working on the franchise for 11 years.
