Summary
It seems thatHarry Potterfans can look forward to moreHogwarts Legacycontent, as the critically-acclaimed open world game apparently has both DLC and a sequel in the works.Hogwarts Legacywas the best-selling game of 2023, and so it’s no shock that WB is moving forward with a sequel. But whileHogwarts Legacyhas been an incredible sales success, that doesn’t apply to all the company’sHarry Potterventures.
A recent report by Bloombergdiscusses WB’s plans for theHarry Potterfranchise in video games. It touches onHarry Potter: Quidditch Champions' lackluster reviews and relatively weak sales, which indicates that theHarry PotterIP does not automatically translate to success in the gaming space. There are apparently “questions” about whetherHogwarts Legacy 2can be as big of a hit as the original game or even surpass its sales, but Avalanche Software and WB are moving ahead with the project.

The same report mentions that Avalanche Software is not only working on aHogwarts Legacysequel, but is also making “new content” for the original game. Specific details on whatHogwarts Legacy 2or the DLC for the first game will entail were not shared in the report. However, this is not the first time that we’ve heard of aHogwarts Legacy 2or DLCin the works forHogwarts Legacy 1.
Hogwarts Legacy Sequel and DLC Rumored to Be in the Works
A separate report from last year made some claims about theHogwarts LegacyDLC that is supposedly in development. That information, which stems from Insider Gaming, claims that theHogwarts LegacyDLC will feature a new story quest, new side quests, new activities, and new outfits for players to enjoy. The DLC is expected to launch at some point in 2025 somewhere within the $20 to $30 range, and may be packaged with the original as part of a new Definitive Edition.
ConsideringHogwarts Legacy’s incredible sales success, it makes a ton of sense to move forward with a DLC expansion. If said expansion truly is looking to launch this year, one has to imagine that a proper unveiling will happen sooner rather than later. When theHogwarts LegacyDLC is announced, it will definitely be interesting to see what it brings to the table. Personally, I have my fingers crossed for the ability to change seasons at will, as I miss exploring Halloween and Christmas-themed versions of Hogwarts.
