Initially, inSynDuality: Echo of Ada, it may seem like players only belong to one faction — the Drifter Support Association. While doing jobs for the Association may seem cushy and primarily focused on gathering materials from the surface, lurking just below this surface is a different choice players can make.

Hinted at during the tutorial videos shown to players, the Drifter Support Association makes note that certain Drifters dabble in illegal activity and should be cautiously engaged with. These Drifters are not officially part of the Association and are actually Outlaws, which players can join with one of two methods.

Change Factions By Hunting Other Players

The first way is to directly engage another player in combat andsteal their Magus. Generally, when hunting another player out in the open during an expedition, the element of surprise is the best option to winning a duel. After downing another player, loot the dropped crate and pick up the Magus for a bounty reward. Completing this at least three times willflag the player as an Outlawby the Drifter Support Association and result in their expulsion. After this, independent factions will become availableto do contracts that rewardunique Cradle parts, Magus fashion accessories, and weapons.

Keep in mind that players engaged in open combatmust be an Association member in good or Cautionary standing, not an Outlaw. Slaying an Outlaw player will only reward the bounty for returning a lost Magus to its owner.

Synduality - Association Quitting

There are some general rules to best equip and prepare yourself for actively hunting another player. Equipping a long-range weapon such as theSniper Rifle HEor theBolt Sniper Rifleis an excellent option because it offers incredibly high damage in a single shot and has an extreme range. However, beware of ranged drop-off that reduces the amount of damage done per shot.

Players can check minimum and maximum ranges by inspecting the weapon in the garage and paying attention to the range indicator on the HUD just below the crosshairs.

Bonus damage can be dealt by hitting someone in the rear flank in the center torso area, so make sure tocatch a player off-guardfacing away to gain a huge upper hand. There are also severalCRADLECOFFINmodels that emphasize damage done to other Cradles like the SHINTower and BOWIEChilipepper series.

Leave The Drifter Support Association For A Hefty Fee

If direct combat against players is not as enticing, there is a second choice to becoming an Outlaw inSynDuality: Echo of Ada— just leave the Drifter Support Association. This is a slightly obfuscated choice, but it is another hint heard in the garage area as an announcement over the radio that a Drifter can just leave the Association by choice. This is done via the in-game menus under theRecords screenwhile in the garage between expeditions. Highlight the option that says “Organization,” and there will be a prompt topay a fee of 100,000 Creditsto leave the Drifter Support Association. After paying the hefty fees, players will be met with a cutscene, and then the same process of accepting jobs from independent organizations begins.

Doing these jobs in sequence from start to finish rewards several unique parts that include three series of CRADLECOFFIN frames that are not obtainable by Drifter Support Association members, several clothing options for the Magus to wear, and three ballistic ammunition type weapons.
