Controlled Metamorphosis Diamond is a unique Jewel inPath of Exile 2that serves as a huge upgrade for certain endgame builds that require the optimal spread of passive skill tree points to maximize damage.

It can only be obtained by defeating one of thestrongest pinnacle bosses inPoE 2, which is only possible for a small percentage of the player base with MF endgame-ready characters. Here’s the breakdown.

How Does Controlled Metamorphosis Diamond Work in PoE 2

The Controlled Metamorphosis creates two rings around itself when it’splaced inside a Jewel socket. This radius is variable, with eight different values. They are:

Two rings are created around the Jewel socket corresponding to the radius, and you can allocate passive skill points to any node inside these rings without having to connect to them through the skill tree.

Unlike Time-Lost Jewels, the Controlled Metamorphosis does not allow allocating points to any node inside the circle, only the ones that fall inside the two rings at the perimeter.

Additionally, Controlled Metamorphosis comes with two debuffing modifiers. They are:

The lower these values are, the better this Jewel will be.A perfectly rolled Controlled Metamorphosis will have -5% to all Elemental Resistance and -3% to Chaos Resistance.

A Keystone in the passive skill tree calledChaos Inoculationmakes characters immune to all Chaos damage. Builds that use this Keystone don’t have to worry about the -#% to Chaos Resistance from a Controlled Metamorphosis.

Unlike with Time-Lost Jewels, having a small radius isn’t necessarily worse than having a large or massive radius. This is because the passives you need or want may be nearer to the jewel socket than farther. In the end, which Controlled Metamorphosis you need depends on your build, the exact location of the Jewel socket in the passive tree, and the useful nodes surrounding it.

However, for trade purposes, the larger the radius, the more valuable the Jewel is. As a result, Controlled Metamorphosis Diamonds with a Massive radius are the most expensive on the trade site.
