With the next entry in theBattlefieldseries in development, the developers have turned to the community to help create the next entryin the form ofBattlefield Labs. This is an early access title that will allow people to help test certain aspects ofthe next gameto help the development teams figure out what works and what doesn’t. With how controversialthe series' last gamewas, EA is seeking to get the players themselves to help determine what features they may want to see.

This next entry in the series has four studios collaborating on the game, and they don’t seem prepared to cut any corners when it comes to development. So for any enthusiastic fans out there that are looking to be a part of the development cycle of the next game, here is a guide onhow they can be a part ofBattlefield Labsand join the first wave of testing.

They then will need tosign into their EA accountthat is linked to their platform of choice and that’s it. Players will then receive an email that has more information for them about the playtesting, as well as asking them to sign an NDA to make sure no secrets are spoiled to the public. WithBattlefieldbeing a marquis release for EA and its studios, they are going to be sure to not want anything getting leaked online that they haven’t released themselves.

The playtesting will beavailable on all platforms: PC, Xbox, and PS5. On the two consoles, a subscription to either Playstation Plus or Xbox Live is required to participate in the online multiplayer functionality. With the series' focus on multiplayer, this makes sense and the testing is not expected to involve any sort of single player content.

The first round of testingshould be happening within the next few weeks, as indicated in the announcement of the program, though specific dates have yet to be released. What can be expected is that there will be a few rounds of testing over the next few months and years as the game is developed.

There is little informationabout what the next entry in theBattlefieldseries is going to look like or even what it will be called. While2042was less-than-loved by many in the community, it had some interesting concepts that could be carried over into the next game. And with DICE, Criterion, Ripple Effect, and Motive all involved in this playtesting experiment, it looks like they’re wanting to pull out all the stops to help the franchise bounce back from that lackluster release.
