In fact, many of the current roster started out as hidden fighters, including fan favorites like Smoke, Jade, and Noob Saibot. With this in mind, it should come as no surprise to learn thatMortal Kombat 1has its very own secret fighter.
Named after the British rock band Pink Floyd,Mortal Kombat 1players can encounter a pink ninja named Floyd by completing a series of seemingly random challenges, after which, they’ll need to defeat him to unlock some pretty awesome rewards. Naturally, none of this is explained to the player in-game, leaving the community to figure everything out for themselves.
This guide would not have been possible were it not for@thethinyand the rest of the people who helped datamine and decipher the clues needed to unlock the Floyd fight.
How to Unlock Floyd in MK1
To unlock the secret Floyd fight in Mortal Kombat 1, players will need tocomplete ten of the 37 challenges listed below. The ten challenges that they’ll need to complete are entirely random, with each player being assigned a different selection. As of the moment, it appears as though the only way to reset your challenges is to lose to or defeat Floyd, after which, ten new challenges will be selected at random. Sadly, there’s no way of checking which challenges are active at any given time.
Floyd will occasionally show up during tower fights and provide players with a Klue, although these don’t always correspond to their active challenges.
Thankfully,it’s possible to go through all 37 challenges in around sixty minutes, andmost of them can be completed in 2-player versus mode using a second controller. It’s possible to complete more than one challenge during a single fight, although this can make it difficult to keep track of how many challenges have been completed, so players may want tofocus on one challenge at a time.
Upon completing a challenge (or at the end of the fight in which it was completed),the word Floyd will appear on the left side of the screen and a guitar riff will play. A few seconds after players complete their tenth Floyd challenge, they’ll be thrown straight into the fight with Floyd and will have three chances to beat him in a best-of-three fight. It’s worth noting that player two can also complete Floyd challenges, so those keeping count should ignore any Floyd notifications that appear on the right side of the screen.
For the actual Floyd fight, players will be locked into using the character that they used to complete the tenth challenge, soit’s a good idea to go through all of the character-specific Floyd challenges firstand then switch to your main for the ones that can be completed using any Kombatant.

Win a fight after taunting exactly four times.Mortal Kombat 1tauntscan be performed by pressing Down on the D-pad four times.

Klean Sweep
Win a fight after performing exactly 13 sweeps. Players can perform a sweep by pressing Back + Back Kick (Circle on PlayStation, B on Xbox, or A on Switch).

Get Over Here Already
Perform one ofScorpion’s Fatalitiesat the end of a fight. His Animality should also work.

Flipping Out
Win a fight after flipping stance exactly 16 times. Players can flip stance by pressing L2 (PlayStation), LT (Xbox), or L (Switch).

Up & Away
Win a fight after performing exactly five uppercuts. Players can perform an uppercut by holding down and then pressing Back Punch (Triangle on PlayStation, Y on Xbox, or X on Switch).

Fire & Ice
Perform a 400+ damage combo whileplaying as Scorpionwith Sub-Zero as the Kameo. The easiest way to achieve this is by chaining Sub-Zero’s Forward + Kameo attack into a Fatal Blow and then spamming buttons during the Fatal Blow to increase the damage.

Ice & Fire
Perform a five-hit combo whileplaying as Sub-Zerowith Scorpion as the Kameo. The easiest way to achieve this is by spamming Back + Back Punch (Triangle on PlayStation, Y on Xbox, or X on Switch).

Perfect Kouple
Achieve a double flawless victory whileplaying as Johnny Cagewith Sonya Blade as the Kameo.

Get the Horns
While playing as General Shao with Motaro as the Kameo, trigger a Fatal Blow and then quickly spam the Kameo button so that Motaro lands the first blow.

Yeet!!!
Win a fight after performing exactly seven throws. Kameo throws do not count towards this total.

This is Where You Fall Down
Lose to Johnny Cage in the final round with less than nine seconds left on the clock.

Demonic Duo
While playing as Ashrah with Sareena as the Kameo, keep getting hit until the meter is full and then use enhanced attacks to empty all three bars. Players should be sure that none of these attacks land so that Ashra’s meter is completely empty afterward. After that, perform Sareena’s Jataaka’s Blessing Kameo move by pressing Kameo + Down.

Frosty!!!
While playing as Sub-Zero with Sub-Zero as the kameo, perform all of Kameo Sub-Zero’s freeze attacks against Sub-Zero (Kameo + Down and then get hit to freeze the other fighter, Kameo + Down followed by Kameo + Forward for freeze then throw, and Kameo + Down then Kameo + Back to freeze and cancel).

Toasty!!!
While playing as Scorpion with Scorpion as the Kameo, use Kameo Scorpion’s Aura of Flame attack three times against Scorpion. Players should verify to set both fighters on fire each time they use Aura of Flame.

Ka Ballin
Land seven ofMileena’s Roll attack. Players can perform Roll by pressing Back + Down + Back Kick (Circle on PlayStation, B on Xbox, or A on Switch).

Hat Trick
Whileplaying as Kung Laowith Kung Lao as the Kameo, hit the other fighter with every hat attack (Buzzsaw, Air Buzzsaw, Hat Toss, Kameo Orbiting Hat, and Kameo Buzz Saw). All five hat attacks need to land for the Floyd notification to pop.

Shaolin Monks
Complete a tower using Liu Kang and Kung Lao as the Kameo, then finish a versus fight. The tower in question will need to be selected from the Klassic section of the Towers menu rather than Towers of Time.

Door Buster
Complete Baraka’s Test Your Might challenge in the Trapped episode of Chapter 5 and then finish a versus fight. Players should make sure that the Story Test Your Might option is set to On in the accessibility section of the settings menu before attempting this challenge.

Climb the Pyramid
Replay Chapter 15 ofMortal Kombat 1’s main storyand then finish a versus match.

Challenge Accepted
Earn 20 points by completing challenges inTowers of Time. Points gained from completing towers do not count towards this total.

How to Beat Floyd in Mortal Kombat 1
The key to beating Floyd is tomake sure that you have your main selected when the fight is triggered. With this in mind, it’s important to complete character-specific challenges first and then switch to your main for all of the generic ones. Other than that, players should try toblock the start of his comboswhenever possible andtake advantage of the times when he stops to taunt. He’s probably the toughest opponent in the game, so it may take a few attempts to master his movement.
Rewards for Beating Floyd in MK1
Players will have three attempts to beat Floyd. If they succeed, they’ll unlockthe Field - Sunset stagefrom theMortal Kombat 1announcement trailer, someFloyd Kombat Kards, anda bunch of Floyd-themed skins for some of the game’s other ninjas. If they fail, they’ll need to start again from scratch, completing another random selection of challenges from the list above so that they can retrigger the Floyd fight and try again.
