Hyper Light Breakeris a tough game, and you’re going to die and reset several cycles before you start to understand what you have to do to be successful. Tokeep your run going, it’s important to know all of the healing sources inHyper Light Breaker– including the Medkit, though this is not available at first.
Before you unlock the Medkit,Hyper Light Breakerstill offers a handful of ways to heal – andsome of them are quite significant. Follow this guide to learn all of the ways to heal in the Overgrowth, and how to unlock and use Medkits, inHyper Light Breaker.

How To Heal In Hyper Light Breaker
There are a few ways to heal inHyper Light Breaker, though some healing methods work a bit differently than others. For example, some Holos allow you to restore recoverable red HP, whilethe MediGem resourceswill recover your normal HP. Certain events will also recover a portion of your HP, such as picking up a Prism or beginning the Extraction process.
you’re able to also heal by equipping Armor that has a higher base HP bonus than your current HP. If, for example, you pick up a Heavy Armor piece with +36 HP, but your current HP is below 36, it will be brought up to 36 when you equip it. You can then unequip the Armor, if desired, and will keep the HP recovered.

Hyper Light Breaker Medkits, Explained
Though there are lots of ways to heal in the game, once unlocked, Medkits become your primary means of healinginHyper Light Breaker. You do not start the game with access to the Medkit, though – you have to expand your Medkit Capacity by using a Golden Ration.
After equipping the Medkit Capacity mod, you are still not guaranteed a Medkit for your run. In fact, the only way to recover Medkit (once you have increased your capacity to at least 1), is to collect an item in the Overgrowth called a MediGem.

Increase Medkit Capacity With Golden Rations
To unlock the Medkit,Hyper Light Breakerplayers mustearn a Golden Ration and use it to upgrade their Mods/Skill Tree.
Talk to Pherus Bit, the commander of the Breakers just opposite the room you enter the Cursed Outpost from. Tab over to the Mods/Skills screen. Here, you will see a variety of Mods that you can buy with Golden Rations and equip as permanent upgrades. To the right of the Tier 1 node, you should see anode that increases Medkit Capacity. The left sidecontains upgrades for your Hoverboard.

Toget a Golden Ration, you must finish a full cycle while completing various objectivesin the map. When you talk to Pherus Bit at the end of a run, abar will appear that records your progressin the cycle. If you collected a lot of Prisms, defeated minibosses and bosses, collected lots of gear, or otherwise completed objectives within the Overgrowth, the bar will grow more. If you weresuccessful enough to fill the bar, you will be rewarded with a Golden Ration to spend.
Use your first Golden Ration to purchase the Medkit upgrade.Hyper Light Breakerbecomes significantly less painful once you unlock the ability to heal with Medkits, but you still aren’t guaranteed one for every run.

Gain Medkits With MediGems At Start & At Shrines
InHyper Light Breaker, create Medkits by collecting and converting MediGems. MediGems arecollectible plantsyou can find scattered throughout the overgrowth. They are more visible from far away than other vegetation withbright whitish-yellow petals that stand out amongst all scenery objects. Interact with one of these plants to collect it.
Like someHyper Light Breakerresources, MediGemsstay in your inventory across deathsand cycles, and can be converted into Medkits at various rates. When youbegin a run, 3x MediGems can be converted into 1x Medkit use. But while inside the Overgrowth, you caninteract with any Shrineto payeither 5x or 8x Medigems to refill your Medkitduring a run.

Because you heal a little bit upon collecting a MediGem, it’s important to collect as many of these as you can in a run to maintain your Medkit uses between deaths. If you die before collecting 3x MediGems, you will start the next venture into the Overgrowth without healing.
