Summary
A credible insider has outlined three more majorXboxgames that may show up on PlayStation 5 this year.Xboxis already treating PlayStation users to a couple of day one first-party game releases in 2025, but it seems the company is also digging into its back-catalog with multiplatform intentions.
2024 brought a lot of great games for Xbox users, but it also saw the brand take its first steps towards relinquishing platform exclusivity. In early 2024, Xbox surprisingly ported four of its first-party games to competitors PlayStation and Nintendo, namelyHi-Fi Rush,Grounded,Pentiment, andSea of Thieves, in a move to supposedly secure the long-term health of the Microsoft platform. This was followed up withDoom: The Dark AgesandThe Outer Worlds 2being confirmed for day one PS5 releases, along withIndiana Jones and the Great Circleheading to PS5 in spring 2025. Beyond these games, many Xbox fans wonder what else is going multiplatform in 2025.

In a rather shocking turn of events, recent rumors allege thatMicrosoft Flight SimulatorandHalo: The Master Chief Collectionmight launch on PS5 and Switch 2this year. The prospect of a premier Xbox franchise likeHalobeing playable on PlayStation and Nintendo consoles is already hard to believe, but it appears Microsoft is leaning even harder into multiplatform releases. Notable insider Jez Corden claimed in a recentWindows Central reportthat in addition to Halo and Flight Simulator,Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2,Age of Mythology, andGears of War: Ultimate Editionare slated to launch on PS5in 2025. Corden is unsure of Switch 2 releases for these Xbox games, but reckons it would “most likely” happen.
Three More Major Xbox Games Rumored to Launch on PS5 in 2025
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2potentially making its way to PS5 isn’t too surprising, given the first game was a timed PS4 exclusive back in 2017. Moreover,Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2didn’t quite set the sales charts ablaze, so a PS5 port could be a great way for Microsoft to rake in some à la carte sales for the game.Age of Mythology Retoldwas released for Xbox Series X/S and PC in September 2024 and received glowing reviews, so it may strike a chord with real-time strategy fans on PS5 as well. The biggest bombshell here isGears of War: Ultimate Edition, though, as the series is considered by many as one of Xbox’s flagship franchises.
Interestingly,Gears of War: Ultimate Edition’s purported PlayStation release could also be setting the stage for a PS5 version of the highly-anticipatedGears of War: E-Day. At the time of writing,Gears of War: E-Dayis only confirmed to launch on Xbox Series X/S and PC, but a future PS5 port doesn’t seem like an impossibility now. Corden previously stated thatXbox won’t be pursuing permanent console exclusivitygoing forward, so any of the brand’s future first-party games that are touted as exclusives will most likely end up on PS5, and possibly Switch 2, eventually.
Xbox Series X
Microsoft’s ninth-generation console, the Xbox Series X is a powerful machine that can support 4K resolution and 60 fps, depending on the game. Released alongside the Xbox Series S, the Series X has a Custom AMD Zen 2 CPU, a Custom RDNA 2 GPU, and 16 GB of RAM.
