Summary
WhenInvincibleSeason 3 finally hits Amazon Prime there are going to be quite a few new characters introduced to the streaming service. Among the new characters that will be front and center in the next season ofInvincibleis a brand new villain Mark will stand against. The villain is a minor character in the comic book known as Powerplex.
Even though he was aminor antagonist in the Invincible comic books, in the series it looks like the audience might get to see a much deeper and prominent version of the character. One of the reasons why this villain is one of the more interesting is that he is essentially created because of the existence of Invincible and his ilk. To that point, he’s an interesting bad guy because he’s more than just a throw away character but is kind of a study on the negatives of a world where these heroes exist and often fight and live and go head-to-head with baddies in the same world where normal people exist. It’s possible that Powerplex is going to be a very interesting character in Season 3 of the Amazon Prime show. It does appear he’s going to have a more extensive role in the show than he did with the comics.

How Powerplex Became Powerplex In Invincible
While there isn’t muchknown about Powerplex’s origin. What is known is that it appears that his alter ego, Scott Duvall was born in the United States and that he had a sister that was killed by Omni-Man’s battle with Mark when Omni-Man finally revealed the real reason he was on earth and asked Mark to join him in his mission to subjugate the human race.
The death of Scott’s sister is the reasonwhy Powerplex hates Invincible. He blames Invincible for the death of his sister and created a suit using kinetic energy plates to use against him and potentially kill him. However, the character is also used as a kind of way to show that blaming people for certain outcomes can go horribly wrong. When Duvall was trying to kill Invincible, the man who feels like he was forced to turn into a villain, ends up incinerating his wife and daughter. This of course, only drives him totally insane and makes him totally evill and more driven to kill the man that he believes is responsible for all of his problems.

Why Powerplex Is An Imposing Figure Against Invincible
Duvall is not a superhuman who is able to go toe-to-toe with Invincible because of the power he holds. He is not asupervillain like the Viltrumitesor Battle Beast. Powerplex is someone who has to build his weapons and his suit in order to take on the superhero who, as his name suggests, is very close to Invincible.
Starring
With the character being very similar toSuperman in the DC Comicsworld, it’s incredibly hard to even make a dent against Mark Grayson and the other Viltrumites that are happened upon in the comics and the first two seasons ofInvincible.
Duvall has to build the devices that he’s able to fight Invincible with though he does know that like Superman, there is one big weakness that Viltrumites have. In this case, it’snot a piece of their home planetthat somehow makes them weaker. There isn’t a special color of sun that takes away their power. And while they are called invincible, they can be stopped if they take enough of a beating. The problem for most of the people that fight them is simply that they cannot stay in the fight long enough to give them that beating.

The problem for most of the people that fight them is simply that they cannot stay in the fight long enough to give them that beating.
Before his world was turned upside down, Duvall did work closely with the agency that monitors and even pays thesuperheroes in the world ofInvincible. Because of this, the man who would Become Powerplex knows there is one way to hit the Vlitrumites and hit them hard enough to make it hurt.
Mark Grayson’s biggest weaknessis electricity. It’s the one thing that can really take him down a notch when its deployed against him and Powerplex uses this weakness in his suit by building in what he calls “bio therm discs.” There are even some times when these bio therm discs seem to have Grayson on the ropes and Powerplex looks like he’s going to win. However, there is also one big weakness with the device the villain builds.
The suit discharges electricity faster than it is able to build it up. And while the ability to recharge is certainly a nice addition to the suit, it’s not perfect. In the comics, Invincible is able to defeat Duvall because he’s not able to keep up the attacks at a level that is needed. It’slikely that theInvincibleshowwill include the same ways in which Grayson eventually wins the fight.
