Summary

There are plenty of reasons whyBioShockfans might be anticipating the release ofJudas, but Ken Levine, the name behind it all, is likely the biggest reason. Levine is known for his beloved brainchild,BioShock, butJudashas continuously proved itself to be one of the developer’s most intriguing ideas yet, whether that be its Roguelike elements or its innovativeNarrative LEGO system. Unfortunately, despite being revealed around two years ago and only getting one additional trailer,Judasis still in a limbo of sorts, and needs another reveal, pronto.

WheneverJudasdoes finally show its face again, whatever it reveals needs to pack a punch. As far as howJudascan accomplish that, there are three very important things it must include to do so.

Judas' Next Reveal Needs to Pack a Punch

Judas' Next Reveal Needs to Include a Release Date

One ofJudas' biggest problems right now is the fact that it was revealed two years ago and has yet to be given a release date. Since its reveal, Ken Levine has spoken with different publications about the game’s progress, its defining features, and a bit of what players can expect from it. However, despite how far alongJudasseems to be in development, at least from what Levine has revealed and what each of the game’s trailers has shown, its release window remains a mystery. The lack of a formal release date announcement is made even more problematic by the fact that Take-Two Interactive,Ghost Story Games' owner, has previously intimated thatJudaswould launch sometime “before March 2025.”

As of now, January is over halfway done, and there is still no word onJudas' release date. What’s worse is thatFebruary 2025 is utterly stacked with major game releases, includingKingdom Come: Deliverance 2,Monster Hunter Wilds,Civilization 7, andLike a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. As such, ifJudasis still targeting a release window of “before March 2025,” it needs to hop on the opportunity quickly to announce an actual release date, and there is arguably no better way to do that than in a trailer at its next reveal.

AssumingJudasgets one more trailer before it finally launches, it should include a release date for the game, even if that release date ends up being much later than Take-Two originally anticipated it would be.

Judas' Next Reveal Needs to Include More Story and Gameplay

Another thingJudasshould be sure to include in its next reveal is more of the game’s story and gameplay. For starters, what has been revealed ofJudas' gameplaymakes it largely look like aBioShockclone, and while that is understandable, considering Ken Levine is the creator ofBioShock,Judaswill need more than its spiritual predecessor’s well-oiled formula to distinguish it, especially in 2025. Additionally, while the premise forJudashas been formally revealed in previous trailers for the game, the deepest working parts of its narrative have really only been mentioned by Levine in interviews with the press. It would be nice to see a futureJudasreveal disclose more of its story than merely the setup for that story.

One ofJudas' biggest problems right now is the fact that it was revealed two years ago and has yet to be given a release date.

It’s currently unclear whetherJudaswill get another reveal anytime soon, but it would make sense for it to if Take-Two wants to meet its “before March 2025” release date goal. Perhaps Take-Two and Ghost Story Games already have another reveal planned forJudasin the next couple of weeks, which would potentially settle the aforementioned issues. Regardless, whenever it comes,Judas' next reveal needs a release dateabove all else, but some more information on the game’s story and a more extensive look at its gameplay would be welcomed as well.
