How Nanami’s Death Influenced Yuji

One of the most important people that Yuji Itadori met in his life was none other than the Grade 1 Sorcerer Nanami. Although Nanami didn’t seem too attached to Yuji on the surface, he certainly did believe in him. Nanami taught Yuji a ton of things pertaining to fighting cursed spirits and, more importantly, helped him mature as a sorcerer. This was born while he was a mighty figure who protected him in time of need and after he faced his horrific death in the Shibuya Incident arc as well. Yuji’s growth under Nanami was phenomenal for the fans to witness and what was even more exciting was the fact that Nanami fulfilled the role of a mentor that nobody else could. For Yuji, he was a guide who showed him how to navigate life as a sorcerer and what decisions to take when. But, unfortunately, their relationship didn’t last for too long. Yuji Itadori ended up facing a massive loss when Nanami diedin the Shibuya Arc. After being heavily injured already to the point of death, Nanami crossed paths with Mahito. It was at this point that his fate was essentially sealed, as Mahito decided to waste no time in getting rid of him completely with his Idle Transfiguration, destroying him in the process.

You’ve for it from here, Itadori-kun! – Nanami

For Yuji to witness this right in front of himself was painfully shocking and traumatizing. It was also right where he took on Nanami’s burden and decided to press forward. Nanami’s death made Yuji realize that he was simply a cog in the machine and out to do his job. Of course, this wasn’t the right way of thinking, and something that he realized himself wasn’t true later down the line. But, at the moment, it is the conclusion that Yuji came to and this allowed him to act like a tool and channel his rage towards Mahito, pummelling him in combat all the while showing tremendous growth as the two continued to fight. When Nanami stopped, Yuji picked up from where he left off and continued the fight once again.

How Choso’s Sacrifice Strengthened Yuji

Choso Made Yuji Feel The Love Of A Family

Just like Nanami, another individual who had a profound effect on Yuji’s life was none other than Choso. Fans know Choso to be a very important character in Yuji’s life. Although the two started on opposing ends in Shibuya, it wasn’t long until Choso finally realized thatthe two were connected through Kenjakuand technically siblings. Yuji and Choso bonded quickly and as the series progressed, so did their relationship. In fact, by the time of the Shinjuku Showdown, Yuji and Choso’s relationship was beautiful for the fans to witness, especially since Choso took his job as Yuji’s older brother very seriously and never let any harm come to him.

Choso was a massive influence in Yuji’s life. He helped him progress as a sorcerer by teaching him the basics of blood manipulation, and most importantly, made him realize the essence of a family and the power of love. Despite everything that Choso had been put through, he didn’t hesitate to always step up and defend Yuji.

Thank you, Yuji. For being my younger brother. – Choso

When Sukuna unleashed how 99 seconds domainduring the Shinjuku Showdown, followed by the almighty Furnace technique, Yuji would most certainly have died. It was Choso who stepped up and saved Yuji’s life, but at the cost of his own. Yuji Itadori was deeply traumatized by Choso’s death, but thanks to Todo, he was able to press forward. Here, Yuji learned the value of sacrifice. Choso gave up his life to save Yuji and ensured that he had what he needed to continue. He gave Yuji a new life and he realized that he needed to live on, not just to uphold the memory of his family, but also to protect others in need. It is safe to say that following Choso’s death, Yuji was more determined than ever before and launched one mighty blow on Sukuna after the other, even going as far as bringing the King of Curses to his knees.

How Gojo Gave Yuji His Dream

Gojo Gave Yuji A Dream To Chase

Choso and Nanami did their part in allowing Yuji to grow as a person, but it was Gojo who gave him a dream. Having lost Nanami, Yuji rewlized that he was a cog. Having lost Choso, he realized the pain of losing out on having a family and the joy brought about by mundane day-to-day activities. WhereasYuji once wanted to fulfill his role and die, he now realized that there are other things in life that are important too, and that small fragments of life add unimaginable meaning to it. Mundane things can shape a human and small things can be worth living for. Yuji knew that it was okay to dream beyond just fulfilling the role of a cog and exorcising curses.

I am counting on you, Yuji! – Gojo

Finally, Gojo’s message to Yuji ties in brilliantly here. Gojo, before death, told Yuji to seek a different kind of strength than him. Even though Gojo knew he could die, he was overwhelmingly confident in leaving everything in Yuji’s hands, because, in every way possible,Gojo’s dream became Yuji’s dream. Gojo left behind an incredible legacy and raised the next generation admirably. Now, it was Yuji’s job to carry on Gojo’s work, change the world and the Jujutsu Society for the better, and raise the next generation of sorcerers to have a kind heart and know the value of the lives they save. Yuji’s life had many ups and downs, for sure, but in the end, the losses he faced strengthened him, made him see love, hate, and despair, and gave him hope at the same time.If Sukuna is beatenand Yuji has saved Japan right now, it is largely down to these three people.
