Seven years after its release,Kingdom Come: Deliveranceisfinally getting a sequel, and there is no better time to jump back into the historical medieval RPG — or pick it up for the first time — to get familiar with the characters and themes to be explored in the second game. The protagonist ofKingdom Come: Deliverance, Henry, will return in 2025 and will be a lot stronger and more experienced than when players first met him as the son of a blacksmith in Skalitz.

Players starting the first game will quickly realize that Henry is not a natural knight, and if they want to master theexcellent first-person melee combat, they will need to improve the seven different combat skills in the game. While it’s also important for Henry to improve his physical abilities, like Strength and Agility, Henry’s combat skills directly improve the damage he can do and make him tougher to take down in a fight.

The Axe Skill perks in Kingdom Come deliverance

Chop Down Foes

Axe Trainers and locations:

The Axe skill inKingdom Come: Deliverancemakes Henry better at using axes like the Broad Axe and Cuman Axe, increasing the power of their attacks. The Axe skill has three perk points — each unlocked at levels 7, 14, and 20 — that can be used to unlock a new move in combat.

Kingdom Come Deliverance Unarmned Skill

The Axe skill is less important to level up in the game because there are fewer axes available for Henry to use, and those that are available are less powerful than maces and swords. However, axes excel at dealing with low or unarmored enemies, so it can be a worthwhile skill to level in the early game where Henry will be fighting enemies with less armor.

Become A Brawl Star

Unarmed Trainers and locations:

During his adventures, Henry is likely to get caught up in some fist fights, so training the unarmed skill is worth taking the time to do so he wins more hand-to-hand combat. Leveling up the unarmed skill will increase the damage Henry does when he lands a punch.

Kingdom Come Deliverance Mace Skill

ThroughoutKingdom Come: Deliverance, players will sometimes find themselves stripped of their weapons or thrown into a brawl from a cutscene, and in those moments, Henry must win to get out of trouble. Another reason to level up the unarmed skill is tomake some money at the start of the gameby winning a fight tournament in Rattay.

Smash Through Armor

Mace Trainers and locations:

The Mace skill is similar to the Axe skill inKingdom Come: Deliverance, and the same three combat moves can be unlocked with the three perks at levels 7,14, and 20 — with the Drei Wunder: Forearm move requiring Mace level 14. The higher Henry’s Mace level, the more damage he will do with them, as well as war hammers and clubs.

Kingdom Come Deliverance Bow Skill

One reason the Mace skill is better to level is that more weapons benefit from it, much more than the Axe skill, andMaces are also excellent weaponsbecause they do serious damage to armored enemies. In the late game, Henry will encounter groups of bandits wearing plate armor, and a mace can be an easy way to defeat them.

Thin Out Their Numbers From Range

Bow trainers and locations:

Kingdom Come: Deliverance’sBow skill is important if Henry wants to use archery to his advantage, as it will increase the damage of bows Henry equips. Unlike the other combat skills, Bow has no perks to unlock. However, until Bow level 5, Henry won’t hold a bow properly and must wear vambraces or armor to avoid injury. At level 10, Henry’s POV will zoom in when drawing a bow, and that zoom will increase at levels 15 and 20.

Kingdom Come Deliverance Defense Skill

Increasing the Bow skill will also decrease the amount of sway when drawing an arrow, making Henry use less stamina when loosing an arrow. Bows also benefit from Strength and Agility skills.Bows are an important tool inKingdom Come: Deliverance, whether to thin out the numbers of camps or draw specific enemies away.

It’s Just A Flesh Wound

Defense trainers and locations:

The Defense skill makes Henry harder to wound inKingdom Come: Deliverance, effectively increasing his armor rating. It also increases the timeHenry has to dodgeor hold a perfect block, and it increases the defense stats of weapons and shields. Henry unlocks perks for Defense at levels 4, 8, 12, 16, and 20, and all the perks can be unlocked from level 12.

Kingdom Come Deliverance Sword Skill

Defense is a crucial combat skill for Henry, as it will help him last longer in fights and give him an edge in combat. Players should go to Captain Bernard as soon as possible and train with him tounlock the Perfect Block and Master Strike perks, which are crucial for winning duels. Leveling up the Defense skill can also benefit Henry’s Charisma and reduce his inventory weight.

Master The Blade

Sword trainers and locations:

Unsurprisingly, the Sword skill is one of the most important of the combat proficiencies inKingdom Come: Deliverance.Swords are the most-used weapon type, covering Shortswords, Longswords, Hunting Swords, and Sabres, and they have the highest number of special moves (eight total) among weapon types. These perks are unlocked at levels 3, 5, 8, 10, 13, 15, 18, and 20.

Kingdom Come Deliverance Warfare Skill

Players will mainly use swords inKingdom Come: Deliverancebecause of the four types available. Shortswords can be paired with a shield for more defense, hunting swords are strong against weak-armored enemies, and longswords have devastating four-attack combos. Increasing the Sword skill will improve Henry’s damage and unlock more of those combo attacks.

Conquer The Battlefield

Warfare trainers and locations:

Whether a player chooses Henry to be a sword master, bash baddies with a mace, or fight only with fists, the Warfare skill is vital in making Henry better in combat. The Warfare skill improves Henry’s overall proficiency in fights with all weapons and unarmed. It has five perks unlocked at levels 4, 8, 12, 16, and 20, with six total to pick from.Henry can pull enemies from their horseat level 0, and he learns the feint ability after training with Captain Bernard.

Increasing the Warfare skill gives Henry some of the most noticeable improvements in combat, as his attacks become faster and harder for enemies to block or dodge. Henry’s weapons will also become damaged less from attacking and defending with higher Warfare.

If Henry’s weapons are damaged, the Rusty Edge Warfare perk increases the chance that an enemy will be poisoned by it.
