Summary
Modern choice-driven RPGs have been known to delve into romance occasionally, and while the feature is not always requested nor desired, it can still add compelling layers to a narrative. Romance may not be the heart and soul ofKingdom Come: Deliverance 2and its predecessor, but the opportunity still presents itself, with Henry’s romance withKingdom Come: Deliverance’s Theresa being the first example of this in the series. Unfortunately,Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2technically being a standalone game, despite continuing the first game’s story, means Theresa might have been left in the dust in exchange for a greater focus on Henry’s journey in front of him.
That isn’t the case, however, asKingdom Come: Deliverance 2does what it can to ensure Theresa is remembered and even included. AfterKingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s trailer showed Henry with another woman, there was some concern that Theresa would be excluded from the game. While she doesn’t ultimately appear in the game in physical form, she can still be a part ofKingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s storyif players choose for her to be. This is great news for fans of the first game who invested inKingdom Come: Deliverance’s A Woman’s Lot DLC, which saw Henry finally sealing the deal with Theresa.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Hasn’t Forgotten About Theresa
Players Get the Chance to Acknowledge Theresa During KCD2’s Opening Hours
The explicit details as to why Warhorse chose to forego includingTheresa inKingdom Come: Deliverance 2are unclear, but it makes sense in some ways, given the fact that A Woman’s Lot was only DLC for the first game andKCD2is meant to be a standalone experience. Regardless,Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2does feature Theresa, though she is only present in mention. This showsKingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s commitment to being a true role-playing experience, as Henry can still technically be in a relationship with Theresa, even though players don’t get to see that relationship firsthand.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2does what it can to ensure Theresa is remembered and even included.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s honors players' experiencewith the first game during its opening hours, as it offers them opportunities to determine whether Henry is indeed in a relationship with Theresa. This is established through a series of conversations that Henry has with his companions, and players are given multiple opportunities to steer said relationship in the direction of their choice — determining how serious Henry was with Theresa and whether they are still in a relationship. While Theresa doesn’t appear in the game at all, it’s at least comforting for returning players to know thatKingdom Come: Deliverance 2didn’t forget about her.
Theresa Can Continue to Have an Impact on Henry Throughout KCD2’s Story
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s intro isn’t the only time Theresa is brought up either, as her relationship with Henry can be brought up throughout the sequel’s story if players confirm the two are a couple during its beginning. At certain points duringKingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s story, another NPC might flirt with Henry or attempt to romance him in some other way, after which players can often choose to say that they are in a relationship with Theresa. This allows her presence to remain throughout the game, although it can simultaneously shut the door on any other potentialromances inKingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
While the game may not bring Theresa back in person, acknowledgment of her throughKingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s dialogue choicesand narrative moments shows its commitment to fans. Rather than discarding past relationships for the sake of a clean slate,Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2allows returning players to carry the weight of their choices in the first game forward, reinforcing the role-playing experience it aims to offer. While it’s disappointing that there are no direct interactions with Theresa, her continued presence proves thatKingdom Come: Deliverance 2values continuity, as well as its characters.
