Hailing from Chenyu Vale, Lan Yan is an artisan and playable character inGenshin Impact. She uses a catalyst and her Anemo Vision in battle, alongside her Feathermoon Rings, which makes her somewhat unique.
Players hoping to add Lan Yan to their team will want to level her up, especially considering she’s a decent support character for other units. To maximize her potential, she’ll need some items from around Chenyu Vale as well as wider Liyue and even Natlan.
Lan Yan Leveling Materials
Lan Yan needs over 8 million EXP and quite a bit of Mora to ascend completely. Here’s how much is needed between each ascension level.

Gemstones - Where to Find Vayuda Turquoise
Anemo characters need Vayuda Turquoise to ascend. It comes in four levels, like all ascension gems: Slivers, Fragments, Chunks, and full Gemstones. It can be found in a variety of ways, but most of it will come from defeating certain bosses:

Local Specialty - Where to Find Clearwater Jade
So far, only Anemo catalyst users need Clearwater Jade to ascend, as it’s just Xianyun and Lan Yan. This special form of jade is found around bodies of water throughout Chenyu Vale. For a full list of farming routes, check here:
Boss Drop - How to Get Gold-Inscribed Secret Source Core
Since she released during the Natlan arc, it’s not totally surprising that Lan Yan uses a Natlan boss material for ascending, that being the Gold-Inscribed Secret Source Core, dropped by the similarly-named Secret Source Automaton: Configuration Device. This boss is found near the People of the Springs, and players will need someone capable of jumping very high (Kazuha, Venti) or climbing with Nightsoul (Xilonen, Kachina) to defeat it more easily, thanks to the pillars it creates.
Enemy Drop - Where to Find Whopperflower Nectar
After Furina released in Version 4.2, it was quite the stretch before another character who needed Whopperflower Nectar for ascension would release. Lan Yan broke this drought when she released in Version 5.3.

Talent Books - Diligence
The Diligence series of talent books is used by a variety of characters, and only found in Liyue. These books can be found in the Taishan Mansion domain on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
Trounce Materials - Eroded Sunfire
Like for her boss material, Lan Yan needs to make a trip to Natlan for her trounce material. This material is the Eroded Sunfire, dropped only by the Stone Stele Records trounce domain. This trounce domain is unlocked through the Natlan Archon Quest, specifically Chapter V: Act V — Incandescent Ode to Resurrection.
Players can skip the unlock requirements with Quick Challenge mode once they reach Adventure Rank 40, though this locks them to trying out the trounce fight in single-player only.
