Lan Yan is the latest addition toGenshin Impact’s Liyue roster, arriving as a 4-star character during this year’s Lantern Rite event. Unlike previous events that featured new 5-star releases alongside 4-stars, Lan Yan offers a unique opportunity for players to obtain her completely F2P, as she can be claimed as a reward during the event. This accessibility, combined with her versatility, makes her a strong addition to many team compositions, particularly for players looking to expand their roster without relying on gacha pulls.
As an Anemo character, Lan Yan stands out for her ability to function as both a main DPS and a support, making her highly adaptable. Her shield, which ranks among the strongest when utilized effectively, allows her to shine in teams that need survivability. Additionally, with theViridescent Venerer artifact set, she can provide Elemental Resistance Shred, enabling teams to maximize elemental reaction damage while freeing up a slot for another unique support or sub-DPS. Lan yan is also capable of crowd control to some extend through her Elemental Burst. This versatility ensures that Lan Yan will find a place in numerous team setups. Here are some of her best team options to consider.

Lan Yan + Faruzan + Furina + Xianyun
Lan Yan as a main DPS team
Lan Yan’s versatility allows her to function as either a quick-swap support or a main DPS, depending on team composition and player preference. When played as a support, she can provide powerful shields, crowd control, and trigger the Viridescent Venerer artifact set’s resistance shred to enhance the team’s elemental reaction damage. However, she also has the potential to shine as a main DPS, thanks to her access to synergistic characters who complement her playstyle and maximize her damage output.
For Lan Yan main DPS builds, Faruzan is the best choice for a team member, as she significantly buffs Anemo carry character’s DMG, enhancing Lan Yan’s performance. Additionally, Xianyun, another Anemo character, offers further synergy by enabling plunge attacks for Lan Yan while also fulfilling the role of a healer. Meanwhile, Furina is an excellent addition for boosting overall team performance with her unique buffs. If Furina is part of the lineup,Xianyun becomes even more valuable, as her healing ensures the team stays above 50% HP, efficiently accumulating Fanfare stacks for Furina’s buffs.

Lan Yan + Clorinde + Fischl + Nahida
Lan Yan in Aggravate Teams
Aggravate teams thrive with the inclusion of an Anemo unit to enhance Electro DMG for the hypercarry, making Lan Yan an excellent choice in such compositions. Lan Yan brings not only crowd control and resistance shred through the Viridescent Venerer set but also offers a strong shield, which pairsperfectly with characters like Clorinde. Clorinde’s Bond of Life mechanic allows her to self-sustain without requiring a dedicated healer, meaning Lan Yan’s shield provides the necessary defensive utility while keeping the team composition focused on offense. Especially considering that Lan Yan first debuts under Clorinde’s rerun banner, those that were aiming for either can effectively build a team that consists of both of them.
For players who are looking for even less premium characters in the team, Keqing is a good replacement for Clorinde.

For additional Electro application, Fischl is a fantastic option. As another F2P-friendly character, Fischl provides consistent battery capabilities and off-field Electro DMG, complementing Clorinde’s on-field presence and ensuring a steady flow of reactions. In the Dendro slot, Nahida becomes a vital team member due to her unparalleled off-field Dendro application. She will also be able to buff the team, debuff enemies with the Deepwood Memories set, and contribute significant personal DMG, making her quite indispensable.
Lan Yan + Arlecchino + Xingqiu + Bennett
Lan Yan in Vaporize Teams
A team featuring Lan Yan alongside Xingqiu, Bennett, and aPyro DPS like Arlecchinooffers a flexible and accessible composition, especially with minimal reliance on premium characters. Arlecchino, with her Bond of Life mechanic, doesn’t benefit from healing, making a shield character like Lan Yan invaluable to ensure she remains protected while maintaining her damage output. Since Arlecchino’s banner is also rerunning during Lan Yan’s debut, players who pull for the banner will find good synergy between them, similar to the case with Clorinde banner.
Players can also consider Hu Tao instead of Arlecchino as she will also benefit from a shielder over a healer, as she benefits from having a low HP percentage during combat.

In this setup, Bennett provides essential support with his massive ATK buff and Pyro resonance, making him a key member in maximizing Arlecchino’s damage potential. The last spot in the team can be flexibly filled depending on available characters, with options like Xingqiu or Yelan providing off-field Hydro application for Vaporize reactions. Alternatively, players looking to build a Mono-Pyro team can slot in another Pyro unit or even consider characters like Citlali for Melt teams instead.
Lan Yan + Neuvillette + Furina + Xilonen
Lan Yan in Hydro-oriented Teams
Lan Yan’s versatility continues to shine inNeuvillette-focused teams, offering valuable synergy with both Viridescent Venerer for Elemental Shred and crowd control that aligns well with Neuvillette’s charged attacks. Her ability to group enemies together makes it easier to maximize Neuvillette’s damage output in an AoE benefitting scenario. The rest of the team can be flexible, but Xilonen is an excellent choice for this setup due to her ability to use the Hero of the Cinder City artifact set, adding extra buff for Hydro DMG through Hydro Crystallize reactions. Since Xilonen’s on-field time is minimal, she complements Lan Yan’s quick rotations, enabling more frequent shield reapplications if necessary. Her healing also plays a crucial role in controlling HP levels, especially when Furina is part of the team.
Furina has great synergy with Neuvillette due to the HP-drain/gain mechanics, resulting in the highest damage potential for the team. However, for players who prefer a different approach, this composition is flexible enough to accommodate a Tazer setup, with characters like Ororon or Yae Miko replacing Furina or Xilonen, depending on available units. Additionally, switching out Neuvillette for Ayato can offer an alternative playstyle, focusing on Hydro-based reactions while maintaining high damage output.
