Even though it has performed well since its launch, Larian Studios hasn’t stopped supporting the game by providing a steady flow of updates to bring new content and fixes. Now, Larian is working to introduce patch 8, the final major content update for the game, which is currently undergoing stress testing.

Those taking part intheBaldur’s Gate 3patch 8 stress testalready have access to update 1, which introduces fixes and improvements across several aspects of the game. One of the highlights of the update is a fix for an issue that prevented Gale from filling himself up with magical items as usual. A fix for a bug that caused Oath of the Crown paladins to lose spell slots when leveling up was also introduced, along with a fix for an issue that caused certain items to lose their condition when added to the inventory.
TheBaldur’s Gate 3photo modewas also updated, and now players will see an in-game pop-up for it that can be found in the journal. Steam Deck users will see an updated screenshot function, allowing them to access their photos from the Steam Screenshots page. Several other fixes and tweaks to the photo mode were also addressed, such as issues where the screen would go blurry when the mode was opened on split screen, or the game suddenly freezing when switching tabs.
Cross-play has also been addressed in update 1, fixing an issue that caused the client to get stuck on the loading screen, along with a PS5 problem where splash screens would not show up as they should, and a crash at the start of combat. The UI also saw significant improvements, addressing issues in character creation, fixing buttons and keyboard shortcut inputs, and fixing a bug when using a controller in the main menu, among other rectifications.
Problems related to the game’s art, scripting, subclasses, and crashes were also addressed in order to keep refining patch 8 for its future release. Larian has not yet provided arelease date forBaldur’s Gate 3patch 8, though speculation suggests it could land in mid to late February.
