7Save Your Ultimate for Aggressive Plays and Counters

Don’t Hoard Ultimates, But Don’t Waste Them Either

Strategist Ultimates are all about the conservation and safety of your team. A Strategist Ultimate should be used in the most efficient manner, and not just because the Strategist felt like it or wanted to save their own skin. A successful Ultimate is one that counters the other team’s Ultimate to cause a stalemate, or one that will allow teams to pull off an aggressive push to gain the advantage.

Saving an Ultimate for the right time is all well and good until that moment has come and gone and it’s not coming back. Players need to know when to use their Ultimate, and to understand that most of the Strategist Ultimates are best reserved for when the team is together and ready to make a power play for the objective.

6Always on the Move

Stay Mobile to Avoid Being an Easy Target

As a Strategist, you’re going to be the number one target of the enemy team. After all, a Strategist is responsible for keeping their team alive, so why wouldn’t the enemy team make a push for that dastardly player? To try and stay alive, focus on moving, as while it might be easier to aim at other heroes to heal them when standing still, it’s also going to make you an easy target.

Players should actively avoid staying still, as enemies with ranged attacks, like Hela and Hawkeye, can easily change the way the game is played by justgetting one lucky headshot. Stay mobile and keep those feet moving so that the Strategist has a harder time getting hit.

5Stay in the Backline

Follow the Team, But Use Them as Meat Shields

Vanguards and Duelists are going to be the ones to take the hits, and as such, it’s a Strategist’s job to to heal them back to form. To efficiently do this, stay behind them so that they can act as both a shield, a sword, and a respectable wall of defense so that enemy teams can’t push the Strategist to kill them and removean efficient member of the team.

The healer and Strategist should never be on the front lines trying to take the most amount of damage or get the most amount of kills, and they should always be poking out from behind their team so that they have meat shields in front of them that they can heal up.

4Don’t be Afraid to Pocket-Heal

Know When to Heal the Right Player for the Best Plays

Pocket-healing is a common term for Hero Shooters when one healer decides to focus on keeping one player alive instead of the entire team. While that’s not really a thing that players should be doing as a Strategist, itdoes have its moments.

Sometimes, a player might be overly aggressive, but making the right plays and kills that keep them alive is vital. Other times, it’s extremely important to pocket-heal someone within their Ultimate, as keepingsomeone like a Punisheralive during their Ultimate could be the play that the game needs to get a team wipe.

With 8 Strategists in Season 1 ofMarvel Rivals, players have quite a varied selection of heroes to choose from that might complement the way they play. If players want a healer that’s more focused on healing and less so on damage, then Rocket Raccoon is the pick. Or, a hero that can do an even bundle of both, players might want to try out Invisible Woman.

It’s always worth trying out Practice vs. AI or the Practice Range to try out different Strategists until players are confident that they want to jump into Quick Play or Competitive as the Strategist of their choice. After all, each character has their own abilities and Ultimates, so knowing them all and their Team-Ups will greatly benefit all heroes.

2Healing is Always More Important Than Elimination and Assists

Keep the Team Alive for the Glory of All, Not Just Yourself

Sure, everyone wants to gloat about being the MVP, but it’s often the silent heroes that deserve the most appreciation. Strategists aren’t likely to get MVP due to the fact that they need to focus more on healing than damage, but that doesn’t mean players should sacrifice their own team just in an attempt to get the most damage and kills.

Strategists need to understand that their role is to heal, and while they can provide some efficient and deadly damage, it’s important to keep the team alive first and shoot enemies later. More healing provided to the team means better plays, which means it’s even easier to push other teams and get a bit aggressive in terms of damage and assists.Seeking independent gloryas a Strategist just means that nobody wins.

1Sometimes It’s Okay to Let Teammates Die

A Flanking Duelist’s Selfish Play Might Result in a Domino Effect of Death

There areplenty of aggressive Dueliststhat seek personal glory through flanks and varying methods of attack away from their own team. Leave these players to their own devices where fate will seek them in the next respawn. Trying to follow into battle a Duelist who is only seeking personal gain and refuses to enter the backline for heals, shouldn’t be the responsibility of the Strategist.

It’s vital to understand that sometimes, a hero on your team has to die to save others, and even yourself. These players might not learn from their mistakes, but you can, and the most efficient Strategist is one who will keep the team alive without having to run in as a babysitter for an overly aggressive Spider-Man or Wolverine.
